The second thought was that Dana was totally too pretentious at the start of the book, and luckily the author straightened her out before the book was halfway through. Saying "hello dolly" instead of "hell" is just a little bit over the top, even for me. Especially since half way through the book she is graphically describing what she wants Cole to do to, and with, her. But once I got by the change in Dana, I realized that the story and plot line were interesting, and the dynamic between Dana and the three dysfunctional Parker brothers was believable. Overall, it was a good story that needs some polish.
In my opinion, anytime you can weave a redhead with a volatile personality, a hunk, ice cream truck, kittens, and bubble wrap into a steamy romance, you've hooked me. I enjoyed it, it made me laugh out loud at a couple of points in the book (and that is a HUGE bonus in a book), and I would gladly read more from this author.
Cole Parker and Dana Coulson both need to grow up. For all the inequity of their union, which starts out fake, these two have a lot in common when it comes to being immature. Dana's tongue appears hinged in the middle and Cole has trust/bonding issues. Not your usual recipe for HEA, but the journey will have you by the heart strings! As you progress through the story, you'll see the real heart of these diamonds in the rough. What is so beautiful about them is how perfectly they compliment one another, as though they recognized the deep loneliness inside, and that there was no other path to healing or joy. At times they made me laugh out loud, and hope the budding warmth of their newfound love, won't be dashed to pieces so early before it can fully bloom.
There's nothing like personal growth and sometimes that can only happen when we are looking at ourselves through another's eyes. One of the things I really enjoyed was the journey of each character. I found myself deeply rooted to the story and couldn't put the book down.
The chemistry between Cole and Dana is as beautiful as it is hot. Their love will entice you to read and cheer them on until you know they will make it. I received this book for free as an ARC, in return for an honest review. I really enjoyed Cole and Dana's journey and look forward to reading more about the Parker Brothers.
K. C. Oliver delivers us true romance and a believable cast of characters. I can't wait to read more from this lovely author!
