Okay, so usually I love Hollyfield’s work. I am all about some humor, love, and happy endings. However, something is off here. Maybe it is a lack of back story on the guy’s part, Lexie might need some AA meetings, and I will happily drive her to and fro. I was slugging through the book. I didn’t have the “I gotta find out what happens” moment.
The guy came off as a bouncer feel: tough walled, tough love, either you are in or out. Another thing, the insta-relationship: you got to do this for me, and never leave my house, after just meeting her. To me it came off kinda controlling.
*sits down and sighs*
Now, let’s end on the good note!
Vibrator scene, so funny… that. That would happen to me, and I am surprised it hasn’t already. Although my kiddo might have found my toy and brought it outside to me while I was retrieving the mail. *wave hi to the neighbor*
I did enjoy the letter, it was so sweet. I also think it gave more depth to the main character of what type of person he is.
I will always adore Jess, as a writer, and as a person. She knows how to make her words flow, the scenes are painted in front of you as you read her stories. I always love that, and her humor.
This book was great from the very beginning. Amusing and heartwarming, JD Hollyfield brings enough sass into Lexi’s character I found myself wishing I was her friend. And let’s not forget the swoon worthy Hunter James, who barrels himself into Lexi’s life with the grace of a bull in a china shop. He has an artist temperament (which gets to be a bit much) with a heart of gold, and I loved watching these two unlikely characters find their HEA. The supporting cast was great, I loved seeing some old and new characters and although the twist at the end kind of threw me off I still really enjoyed the book. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a quick read that gives you enough heat to scorch a page.
Lexi was an adorable character. If you loved Becca from Sophia Kinsella's Shopoholic series, you'll love Lexi Hall. She was funny, wild, and really made a mess of things. Her character always made me smile and at times I hurt for her when life got a little too hard.
"It's like I'm in high school again and my first crush just complimented my Trapper Keeper."
Hunter James was intense. I'm a sucker for serious, flawed, and secretive heroes and Hunter was all of these. Despite his desire to be a reclusive, brooding artist, Lexi brought him out of his world and turned it upside down.
"You just bewilder me is all. I have never in my existence been so entranced by someone's entire being."
To say these two had chemistry is an understatement.
"I don't know what you're doing to me, but I need to consume every part of you."
Whenever they were around each other they were explosive. It was a very steamy read that had me flipping the pages as quickly as I could.
"Then you must know the effect kissing you has on a man. It's like heaven and hell intertwined."
If you're looking for a story that has it all, Faking It will deliver in more ways than you can imagine. I highly recommend this steamy, hilarious book!
So, boy meets girl story... No. Boy meets girl, girl propositions boy, and whew! It gets hot in here. This is the cutest couple ever. Hunter and Lexi, don't quite fall into each other arms, but there is falling, a few slaps and some broken hearts. I love the way they met, and what grew between them.
Love has a way of pulling at your heart. If you've ever been there, then you know. If you haven't, it's an indescribable feeling, that frightens the crap out of you. It was felt from both characters, neither of them trusting, neither of them wanted to admit what they were feeling.
But with all good love stories, there is always some tradegy. Yep, and I'm not telling. If you've ever read any of my reviews, I never have spoilers... Sorry. I want readers to laugh, love and enjoy what Jessica has entertained us with. You know you picked a good one, when you explain to Stabucks patrons, what you're laughing at. Faking it, it's what we do to cope. Find out what Lexi'so coping mechanism is.
