It was a case of mistaken identity. Mel Brock thought that the gorgeous looking man in the foyer was a model. It turned out he was not; in fact, Sam Curtis was the childhood friend of Mel's business partner, Jeff.

But, mistaken identity be dammed, it did not stop Jeff and Mel from hiring Sam to headline a nationl advertising campaign they were launching.

But Mel found Sam irristible, just like the thousands of women, who were their target market. Describing Sam in her own words, Mel said, "He is ... gift to American women. But, if he is, then why does Mel feel jealous when Sam was doing his job of flirting with the women he was supposed to in the first place.

Laugh out loud funny, "Faking Mr. Right" is a true contemporary romance touching on the effect of Madison Avenue on pop culture, the paparazzi's place in the news media and how personalities can use the same media to right a wrong.

Kerry Connor has her finger on the pulse on the current zeitgeist as she created these funny and remarkable characters. You will love Mel and Sam, plus the plethora of supporting characters that were all fleshed out nicely to be three-dimensional.

Oh, there were a few typographical errors but they were not enough for me to take out one star, hence I'm giving this book a 5-star rating. Also, this is PG 15 (not 13) because of some sexual content.

I liked this well written story, the first one I've read by this author. There are some minor problems with editing - a few missing words, wrong pronouns, etc..., but nothing that seriously detracts from the story. The lead characters are interesting, complex, well rounded people with the supporting characters contributing to the richness of the plot and the main character's lives as fully fleshed friends and family.

The banter and chemistry between Sam and Mel is well written, as is the sarcasm. The love that Sam has for his uncle Tommy and vise versa is also well done-the two tough guys trying not to get too mushy. I absolutely loved Sam the ladies man's horror at being groped on the street by strange women in response to his "Mr Right" ads, and also Mel's barely concealed jealousy at the women who were doing the groping. I also loved the descriptions of Mel's dog and his pouting at being insulted. The best thing was the HEA, for more than one romance.

There are sexual scenes but they're not overly drawn out or graphic, there isn't any violence and I don't recall any profanity.

Heat factor moderate.

I really liked the opening of this story: the meeting between hero and heroine was entertaining and their characters were well defined from the very beginning.

Sam is one hot hero, but I wish he had a bit more chance to really ramp up the heat. In some ways, I felt like the author held back on his potential. Having said that, the book does have its steamy moments, but it's not erotica by any stretch of the imagination.

Mel, the heroine, is an interesting character, though I probably liked Sam that little bit more. There is a lot of depth to him that is revealed as the story unfolds.

There are some interesting developments for a number of the secondary characters, which helps to make the book a well-rounded read.

In all, it was a fun, entertaining read with a hot, smart-mouthed hero and a clever, strong-willed heroine. An enjoyable, light read for those days you don't want anything too challenging.

Typos were my only negative complaint. Some words did not change into the format cleanly and so the reader got to play guessing games with the intent. (Ex. that 'was' must have been a 'what' for the sentence to make any sense at all.)

Otherwise, wonderful characters placed in believable situations, with witty or snarky or delightful things to say. Laughing out loud does occur. Reader should be warned to not drink soda or milk while reading.

The best part of Faking Mr. Right was the character dialogue; it was witty and gave depth to the story. The sub-plot of Tommy and Rosie added to the story. You need to read this full-length book to find out the complete story of Mr. Right and Mel (Ms. Right).

I loved this book. It was refreshing because I laughed and cried. It was just a nice change of pace and there was humor. "Mr. Right" sounds yummy even if he was plugging a cosmetics line of products. I think I would have liked it better if he had been plugging cologne. Eh, that's just me and it didn't detract from the overall book. This book could easily go on and tell the stories of other characters if the author chose to do so. Fingers crossed.

While I enjoyed the story overall, I found it to be repetitive with regard to Sam's looks, the chemistry between him and Mel, and the reasons why she should not get involved with him. Page after page after page these points were hammered into the reader. Mel assumes he sleeps around but I was never clear on why she came to that conclusion. There didn't seem to be much growth for either of them. There are enough missing and incorrect words to be annoying. I did love the banter between Mel and Sam though.
