I still like this product. The only problem have had was the long wire to power the unit got a short in after 4 1/2 months ... perhaps because it was in the door frame and was slightly pulled every time the passenger door was opened. HOWEVER, I attached a shorter plug-in and no longer wire it through the door frame and the column covering.
I also added pictures of the unit attached to my windshield from the outside and the inside (passenger's side view -easiest to see it attached). You can clearly see the unit. I leave it in 24/7 and although it is visible, it is not obtrusive. You can also see the GPS attachment that I wired down along the driver's side column and placed in the front of the windshield, inside.
The unit itself is approximately 4 x 1.5 x 1 inches in dimensions, to answer someone's question.

Well worth the price... I purchased this because I do a lot of cross country driving these days in the USA.
I have used Dash Cams for years while working in Asia for many years where they are used extensively, Many of them did not have GPS capabilities and were low video quality. Although in recent years have used high quality video and GPS.
Based on my experiences, I finally took the plunge and purchase this model. It satisfied all my needs ... 1080 HD, 170° Viewing Angle, included 32GB microSD Card and GPS device.
It was relatively easy to install, after viewing the online video for wiring from the windshield to the power. Showing how to hide the wires through the vehicle.
I have used it for the better part of two months now. Then it happened, someone backed out of a parking space in a grocery store lot and struck my right (passenger's) front quarter panel on a Saturday afternoon.
However, unlike the camera's information, it did NOT immediately save it to the SAVED folder. Perhaps because of the low speed impact from the side. However, it continued to record in the five minute loop, catching the drive coming from his vehicle and viewing the damage to both vehicles. [minor complaint]
After the accident I did call the police and the officer arrived on the scene. He suggested, upon arrival, since both cars were visible, that we simply call our insurance companies. I asked if he would take a report and he agreed after the other driver said I came flying around the corner. I told I had a Dash Cam of the accident; he viewed the video of the Dash Cam and took the report.
The officer was impressed because I had proof of my speed (less than 5 mph) and the video of his pulling out without apparently looking to make sure the area was clear. He wrote the report showing the young man in the other vehicle was a fault. No ticket was issued do to occurring on private property.
Instead of calling his insurance after the accident, the other driver called mine, less than 30 minutes after the officer took the report. He actually talked with my insurance claiming the accident was my fault ... and no police report was made. He claimed that I pulled around the corner doing more than 30 miles an hour and he had just looked to his right (where I came from) and did not see me!
My insurance called me after talking with the other drive. I told my insurance I had a video of the accident that showed the accident AND my speed leading up to the accident. I also told the agent that the police were summoned and that the next video showed the officer arriving and talking with the other drive and I would send them the video and information. I said I wanted them to see for themselves.
I sent the video, the time of day, speed, GPS info and actual video of the accident, including his pulling back into the space and getting out of his vehicle coming to the front of mine to look at the damage. I also gave the insurance company the police number of the accident. My insurance called back about a hour later and told me that they would contact his insurance. They apparently sent the video to his insurance, My insurance called back and gave me the claim number for his insurance and to wait for them to called later that day. His insurance called me within minutes of my hanging up with my insurance company asked for additional information and acknowledged receipt of the video showing the accident. They told me their client had not contacted them yet and they had to talk to him. I was also told I would be contacted the next Monday by a claims adjuster.
Early Monday morning a claims adjuster called, from his insurance, asking a few more questions, and acknowledged their client's fault (based on the video and police report). He still had NOT called his company. That same day, an inspector came out and looked at the damage, wrote up a report and called the collision company for me to take the car in for repair.
I took the car in on Tuesday, and it was repaired the next day, taking only two days to repair. An interesting side issue, it turned out they still hadn't gotten hold of their client until after my car was in the shop being repaired and they had already acknowledged their client was a fault.
ALL because of having a video of the accident and GPS information showing my speed, distance, and location of the accident ... including the driver's id and showing him coming out of his car and the police arriving and looking at both vehicles. Of course the police report number as well.
EVERYONE should purchase a Dash Cam and this one is one of the best. The police and my insurance were impressed with the video quality (HD), clarity (easily seeing the tag number and other driver), and GPS information (speed, location, and real time direction) of my vehicle.
Great value for the money.
Only other complain (not savings the file immediately after the accident) I have is the online documentation and the user's manual for this product .... not clear on how to access setup and viewing using the device. As some of the questions above demonstrate. BUT a great device once set up and using.
Again highly recommend.
I did run into 1 small issued that Danny at Falcon picked up the phone right away and resolved, no loss of stars due to that.
I ordered a mirror mount, and additional GPS unit so it was easier to swap between cars. The mirror mount that I got would not hold the camera what so ever. So I suggest to skip getting a mirror mount for this unit.
I attached a photo of the stock suction mount, and mirror mount. You can see the mirror mount does not come with the clip that locks it in.
As well as the main issue, the rectangle piece that goes into the camera slot is half the thickness, so it slides right in and right out. This will cause the camera to constantly shake if you can keep it in there. It will fall out if you slam a door, or take a turn. Skip the mirror mount from Falcon until resolved. They never heard of an issue before, which I cannot believe. pics tell it all.
