I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Michael and Barrett, 2 people from different backgrounds, meet in a dark alley, each trying to help someone. Michael is open as to what he wants from Barrett, but she is wary of his intentions. Michael wants to prove that he just wants to get to know her, so he sets out to find out who she is at heart. In so doing, he finds information that Barrett would have liked to be the one to tell him, if ever, but she runs first. Ultimately, she realizes that he is genuine n his feelings and they come together. The ending is a perfect HEA but also could lead to a second book.
Michael can't help be interested in this fiercely independent woman. Barrett wants nothing to do with him or his kind. He notices she's hurt and tries to help even though she's being very clear she wants nothing from him.
There is so much to their struggle to find happiness together through painful pasts. Seeing and feeling them grow together is amazing. It's a must read.
I received this as an ARC for an honest review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book and absolutely loved it. You will too.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC.
