This one starts with John. John is 6'6" tall and normally weighs well over two hundred pounds but right now after the fall he weighs less. He and his nurse wife Sandra have a farm with horses for transportation. Gas is something you just can't get unless you already have it. John has a five hundred gallon gas tank on his farm to fill his tractors and ATV's but most days he uses his horses for travel.
Before the fall John owned his own security business. John was an Army Ranger who served time in the sand box in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He's one very capable guy. His home is a fortress and he and his first wife Mary bought loads of supplies, medicine, guns and ammo because John knew the way things were going it would all be needed. How right he and Mary were.
John's first wife Mary was beaten, raped and murdered while John was not at home. His second wife Sandra he married several years later. She's a great woman and totally in league with his prepper ways. Right now they live off the land and don't get into their supplies unless they absolutely have to.
John and Sandra want their neighbor Tom and his wife to come live with them. They need more people because two people just can't watch everything twenty four hours a day.
Tom is also ex military. He was a Ranger and served time in the sand box. He and John think alike. Tom's wife is a liberal idiot and John wonders just what the hell Tom see's in her. She's the type of person who thinks being friendly and singing kumbaya around the campfire will cure all ills. John doesn't like her but really likes and admires Tom. A Tom who's one very capable survivor.
John has just killed a thief in his shed. His protection dogs Newt, Benji, Skillet and Dolly alerted John to the intruder. Dolly, a German Shepherd is his favorite dog and Skillet a huge Doberman is his meanest. He loves those dogs like they are his kids.
With no way to communicate with anyone no radio, TV, computers or cell phones neither John or Sandra have any idea what's going on in America. They don't know if there is still a Govt. and for all they know the Russians or the Chinese are in America.
The man he killed turns out to have one nasty father Potter by name. A man who will seek vengeance against John and those with him. Its an adventure dear old dad won't survive.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has John, Sandra, Tom, Sue his wife, Dolly, an attack on the farm, booby traps set up by John and Tom, the deaths of many of the mans men, a John who has no problem killing to survive, a John who was one helluva soldier and is one hell of a survivor, Tom the Ranger who's every bit as savvy and capable as John is, Sandra who's nursing skills are more than handy, a Sue who's one liberal idiot, a raid on Potter the Fathers farm, the deaths of all of his guards, a woman named Marty they free, a Marty who makes it back to Johns home, a Marty who uses the shotgun Tom gave her to kill three of Johns dogs and escape, a Marty that Tom finds with three other women, a Marty John would just as soon kill as look at, a twister that destroys Johns home, another attack by the dead Potters men, a John who sends his team out the back with the loaded horses, a John who burns his barn down so no one will get his supplies, a John who meets up with Top, a Top who tells him America is fighting back, a John who meets Willy a Green Beret, John Sandra and Tom who wade into the battle, a dead Sue and John and those with him doing their best to survive and help take back America.
if you want to understand what is going on, I recommend you read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" and what set us on this path of destruction...
this is a series....read book 1, which is very entertaining without being "preachy"...and continue on for the entertainment...
If you know that your language skills have their limitations, please at least do yourself and your audience a favor and FIND SOMEBODY who can spell and who can fix the grammar glitches. You spend months of your lifetime writing a book, yet you can't be bothered to give it to people who read it before it gets published and listen to their advice? None of them seems to be capable of finding any of those 3-4 grammar or spelling errors on each page? Ah, come on.
If you don't pay this much respect to your readers, do not expect very much respect from them in return.
And the aftermath of that collapse to the citizens of the US. Millions were killed in the first three month as food ran out. The one who survived had planned for the event for years. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
