I liked:
The characterization. The main guys and gal were intelligent, and had good dialogue. I like that the gal was a tough fighter without being cocky or boasting.
The story line. Complicated and different enough to
keep me interested, with a darker sexy edge that I like.

Did not like:
It felt like the first 1/4th to 1/2 of a real story. There was not enough world building to fully understand why things were happening, or explore the new alien culture the heroine finds herself in. Lots of unanswered questions!
It ended on a cliff hanger. Ugh! Also, the heroine did not seem to have enough time to get attached to the guys to react as she did in the end.
Overall, I enjoyed this, will definitely read the next one, but felt the story was not flushed out enough, and left me vaguely frustrated.

Feeling cheated and disappointed, didn't realize this was the first installment of a serial--not a complete story. It's about as satisfying as reading the sneak peek of a novel still in pre-order. It's a very promising start and I will undoubtedly continue but I would have waited for the complete story had I known.

I fell in love with Scarlett Dawn's King Hall and King Cave series so I decided to give this one a try. I like the story so far, but I hate that authors keep publishing just parts of a story. It's my fault for not noticing it wasn't a full story. I will definitely pay better attention in the future. I will probably wait til all of the rest of the story is out before I purchase any more of this book.

Despite my deep dislike of serial novellas I gave this book a try. I've really enjoyed all of Scarlett Dawn's other full length paranormal novels so I figured this one would be equally as good.

The novella was a great intro to this sci-fi/romance series. I liked the idea of humans who are forced to inhabit an un-occupied alien planet. The main character, Braita, has been trained as a warrior and spends her time in lessons and with her friends. I found the idea of humans instilling a no-touching rule an interesting form of population control. After tragedy strikes Braita's adopted home planet she and a few other chosen are forced to leave the planet in order to save more resources for the humans. This scene is reminiscent of the Hunger Game's lottery except she is fully volunteering to be one of the candidates to leave. You feel the same fear as Braita as she meets her first "alien" from her new planet- she has unfortunately been chosen to move to the more war-like (think Warf from Star Trek) of the neighboring planets. The surprises and drama that ensues from that point onward is exciting and well written. You get a feeling for the many hang-ups that Braita's going to have to overcome in order to feel comfortable on her new home planet. While there's not much romance to speak of in this first book- you get the feeling it's going to be hot and steamy in future installments.

My biggest complaint is the novella format. At 66 pages I read this book very very quickly. I hate the feeling of just getting into something good and it abruptly cutting off. Waiting till October for another tiny snippet is irritating to say the least. I wish if authors are going to release serial novellas they would at least time them to maybe one per month.

I was introduced to Scarlett Dawn’s work through her Forever Evermore Series and was enthralled with her characters in King Hall and King Cave. Now she has built a world in another solar system and her Cold Mark Saga from every indication, as I read and re-read Fall, appears to be another hit series for Dawn.

Earth has been destroyed by its inhabitant’s carelessness, and merely one thousand former residents of earth survived The Travel (the exodus from their dying planet). They have found refuge in the Kline solar system on the planet Joyal. Flanked by two other planets and their life-forms, the deadly Mian on the planet Triaz and the cerebral Kireg on Egyac, Joyal is the smallest of the three and almost completed covered in water.

A Tsunami reduces the inhabitable land-mass even further, requiring some of the transplanted earthlings to go and reside on the planets with their nearest neighbors. As luck of the draw would have it, Braita and eighteen year old human from Joyal and her best friend Jax are sent to the planet Triaz.

Their lot is to live as slaves among this barbaric people, and Braita and Jax, despite their prayers for the contrary are separated once they land on the soil of their new home. This adult Sci-Fi story is interesting because the culture, customs and physical differences between the humans from Joyal and the Mian of Triaz differ vastly.

Scarlett Dawn paints a very vivid picture of Braita’s acclimation to Mian society and her near-acceptance of the strange relationship she is expected to embrace with the two Mian men, Leo and Malik, with whom she has unexpectedly bonded. Join Braita on her journey as she seeks to understand what her role will ultimately be with the two gorgeous Mians with whom she now resides.
