All Fall Down is a taut, suspenseful tale about Lucy’s desperate search for her computer wiz/best friend Kelly. Lucy has relocated to Alexandria, VA to take a job with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). This is her chance to turn her life around. The story shifts to Philadelphia where Lucy is specifically “invited” by the kidnapper to try to save Kelly. Lucy has 48 hours to find her or Kelly dies. We meet old friends in this novel, but it is clearly Lucy’s story. We are in Lucy’s mind as she works through possible clues and debates the wisdom of asking for help, while at the same time engaging in a complex search within her own soul in an effort to define to herself who she really is.
The plot is outstanding with great utilization of the side characters. There is a huge twist approximately two-thirds of the way through that knocked my sox off. The entire book is pacy; the last 33% is totally unputdownable as the clock winds down on Lucy. We get answers to several questions brought up earlier in the series and various personal relationships are fully developed. Do we get a clear vision of Lucy’s future? Does Lucy even have a future? You get to find out when you read All Fall Down.
I do not want to forget to mention that Ms. Green clearly jumps into her research with both feet. The entire series is so well researched. Thanks for the big injection of believability, Ms. Green.
I must stress that All Fall Down is not a stand-alone novel. Yes, the plot in terms of the case in question (Kelly’s disappearance) is contained in this one volume, but there are so many nuances that are related to the earlier books that first time readers to the series will be lost. I strongly recommend the Lucy Kendall series, starting with All Good Deeds, to all crime/suspense/thriller fans. All 4 books will make my top ten list of 2015 novels.
I will miss Lucy. I will miss her a lot and am really jealous of the readers who have yet to start this set. Fortunately, Ms. Green has written other series, which I cannot wait to jump into. She also has a new series coming out in February 2016, which I believe will contain at least one or two characters from the Lucy books. All I can say is “I’m in, Ms. Green!! And thank you, thank you, thank you for all the sweat, blood, and tears you put into Lucy’s stories to create one of the very best psychological thriller series out there.”
And he knew me. He knew how to pull my strings until I did exactly what he wanted.'
And Stacy Green sure knows how to pull my strings and push my buttons!
I know that when I start one of her books, I am not going to get anything else done until I am finished. Which is why I stayed up all night reading All Fall Down.
This is book 4, and the final one, in the Lucy Kendall series; undeniably the best series of psychological thrillers I have ever read.
Lucy has moved to Washington, D.C., and taken a position with the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, a position where she can utilise her unique talents.
She has decided to make a fresh start, to put her previous life behind her. But you know what they say, you always take yourself with you, no matter where you go.
So when one of her former Social Services clients is found murdered and posed to resemble Lucy's dead sister, and a message for Lucy is scrawled on the mirror, Lucy believes she is responsible for the death.
And then the unthinkable happens - Kelly is abducted and her abductor issues a challenge to Lucy. She has 48 hours to locate Kelly, or he will kill her.
Is this linked to all the bad things she has done in her past? Or is this someone new, playing out his sick and sadistic fantasies?
The writing is taut, tense and suspenseful - just what I have come to expect from Stacy Green. The plot is fast paced and unpredictable; the characters, flawed as they are, get under your skin and into your heart.
I am going to miss Lucy, Kelly, Todd, Chris and Justin - they have undoubtedly provided the best reading of my year. But I am looking forward to reading Stacy Green's other works; and I see she has a new book out early 2016, which I am going to pre-order.
Thank you Stacy Green for this wonderful journey.
WARNING: This is NOT a stand alone book.
This is the third Stacy Green novel that I have read, the second Lucy Kendall book.
I did receive a free Kindle Book for my honest review.
This story is the continuing saga of Lucy Kendall and her passion for protecting the weak and exploited children of her world. Most books in this genre have a cop that is either bad or good going outside of the lines in order to do his job in a broken system.
In "All Good Deeds", Lucy; who is not a cop, but now works helping and locating exploited and abused children, colored way outside of the lines, off the page, and wrote a new book of rules.
She got the bad guys smoothly, while putting herself at great risk from many different corners. No, she did not get all the bad guys, and she experienced a revelation that she did not want to lose herself - she retains her life, dignity and conscience.
"All Fall Down," opens in a new chapter of Lucy's life. Is she tamed and all put together? No, will she go to the ends of the earth to save and protect those she loves and kids in danger? Yes.
As a grown adult who grew up on the mean streets, I feel a kinship to Lucy, and these stories ring true. We all know that truth is stranger than fiction.
There is no cookie cutter pattern to the Lucy Kendall series, there are extreme sharp turns, deep puddles, and razor sharp debris along the ride, but when I finished All Fall Down, just like "Tin God" and "All Good Deeds," this story resonates through my mind for days afterward. Then weeks later, I will hear something on the news, and I think of Stacy Green and Lucy Kendall.
Sexual Content: Alluded to, but no graphic sex action.
