Born from the Creator, brothers Michael and Satanail are the leaders of the Angelic Host- a society based on faith, harmony, and love. When a ambiguous message is revealed to Michael, brotherly loyalties begin to falter and the trusted balance of the Host begins to tip. Every angel has a choice to make- do they stand with Michael and their faith? Or do they choose freedom, and risk eternal damnation? As Heaven is torn apart by a horrific war, the fate of both Heaven and Earth lie in the hands of the original brothers. Who will win- Good or Evil? And what will be sacrificed in the process?

Vividly descriptive, Fall From Grace takes you directly into the depths of the greatest battle of all time. With gorgeously sculpted characters, J. Edwards Ritchie draws you into the heart of the conflict from the first page. His talented story-telling is strikingly expressive, allowing you to feel every emotion – whether it be joy or agony – as if you were living the story firsthand. I found Fall From Grace to be highly addictive, pleasantly eloquent, and terrifyingly descriptive in places (in a good way, though). His character work was so on-point that I could feel my heart break as the beautiful society began to unravel. With a fabulous use of adjectives and emotions, Ritchie was able to paint a picture of this stunning world- granting you the ability to envision it clearly in your mind. I was thoroughly blown away by the twists and turns taking place in the plot- you couldn’t truly hate any of the characters on either side of the war after being brought into their horrors, their pain, and their souls.

Fall From Grace is an impressive novel about the mysterious inhabitants of the heavenly realms. Ritchie has created what I consider a top-notch novel exploring lives of angelic beings. The novel excels on the levels of entertainment, writing, story and plot and character development. I am an Anglican priest and student of the Bible and what Christians call "spiritual warfare." I have read a good bit of books on the topic of angels and demons -- not to mention studying Milton's Paradise Lost and Regained as an English Major in college. I was thoroughly appreciative of Ritchie's treatment of the angelic realm in his book. His character development is on par with Milton's angelic characters and C.S. Lewis' characters in The Screwtape Letters as well as more recent novels This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness by Frank Piretti. Ritchie's character of Satan reveals the depraved glory of the prince of demons, and his character Michael shows the loyalty and heartbrokenness of the faithful servant of God.

Ritchie's story is neither necessarily Biblical or unbiblical; it is congruent with Biblical revelations regarding angels while also limited in what the story covers. It is not a Christian novel; however, I recommend it to Christians who I think will find it appealing and enlightening. I am pleased that this is Volume I in a series, because it leaves much to explore in future books. Mankind plays an indirect role in this story and remains on the outskirts of the drama, even though their creation is a significant issue among the angels' conflicts. Ritchie's imaginative speculation of heaven and the angels' lives is splendid. There are areas that I believe might be close to the reality I imagine among angels.

I seldom stop reading a book before I finish the whole thing. I found myself unable to engage with this book and finally gave up after 55 pages. I am use to reading Alcorn, Peretti and others who come from Christian backgrounds where the actions of angels are supported by a biblical perspective.

I knew this was fiction so I didn't expect anything other than fiction. Ritchie's writing was uninspired and did not hold my interest. I'm sorry to say I can't recommend this book.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. What on the outside looks like a possible trashy romance novel about angels and some double entendre on "forbidden fruit", is actually a kickass action novel containing a richly complex world of angels, demons and the intensely detailed Heaven they inhabit. Ritchie presents a riveting and engaging answer to the question that most kids in Sunday school ask themselves: What is up with angels? The flat, humanoid, goody-two-shoed angels of our imaginings are replaced with a diverse race of free-thinking beings that feel and act the gamut of human emotions from devotion to rebellion, egomania to self-doubt. This book focuses on how the knowledge of mankind's existence throws the angels' almost perfect world into turmoil. Should the angels remain faithful and "good" and care for mankind, or, should they free themselves from servitude to an inferior race and a seemingly absent God? These questions split the seemingly unified angels, culminating in a terrifically EPIC battle of good versus evil.
What I loved most about this book were the intense and well-planned details on how this Heaven operates, from it's hierarchical societal structure to the imaginative technologies that are seamlessly integrated into everyday angel life. This is fantastic, smart and at times graphically violent novel that will definitely change your perspective on those placid faced ornaments that top our Christmas trees.
