This book completely blew my mind.
I did not realize this book was a paranormal romance. I thought it was just a normal romance story, but it was so much more than that. Needless to say that I loved Grace and Shane. Christine Zolendz has a beautiful way of writing and the hot sexual tension between Grace and Shane were intense to say the least. I craved scenes with them in it together. Boy is that chemistry beyond hot.
This is not just a typical love story, it is a love story that has lasted 2,000 years through reincarnation/possession of sorts. Its all very complicated. But I couldn't help but feel sorry for Grace and her search for the only man she has ever loved, all while trying very hard not to get involved with a man who sets her heart on fire. I loved the mystery surrounding Grace's life and it helped build the suspense for the growing story.
I just loved this story and I could not put this book down. God, I seriously love Shane and all his twisted emotions and Grace's smart ass mouth. I could not get enough of this story and am dying to know what else is in store for Grace.
So what is this book about ( I'm not trying to spoil anything but I just might. So consider yourself warned)
This book is about angels and fallen angels basically. The story revolves around Grace. The thing is Grace is kind of immortal. She is the daughter of Noa, yes the noa. In that time angels still visited the earth. Some of them hooked up with humans and as a result those angels where punished and the females and their children punished/killed. Grace was in love with an angel called Samsiel. They never had sex, they just shared a simple kiss but Grace was punished for it. She was doomed to life live over and over again, being put in a new body over and over again. She never gave up searching for her angel.
What did I love about this book.
I liked the paranormal aspect of it. And of course I loved Shane Maxton. Dear god, that man is like sex on a stick, I mean seriously. I do believe that Grace was a bit too stubborn but that might be me excitement and my inability to wait talking. I liked the banter between them, and the way Grace carried herself. She is a strong person and I like her. What I didn't like about her was the instant judgment, and the fact that she just didn't really give Shane a change. Oke, he doesn't have a clean record, and yes I'll have my judgment of-course but that doesn't mean you can't give the guy a decent chance. I think that Grace was also scared to give up Samsiel and really giving Shane a change because what should she do when he did chance. For her that might mean giving Samsiel up, and she was no were near ready for that in my opinion. But danm women, can't you see how good the two of you are together.
And that danm cliffhanger, like oh my freaking god!!!!
But, no matter how hard you try not to like him, Shane manages to get under your skin. You just cannot help but love him! Despite this, Grace goes out of her way to not like Shane or give into him. Which, is pretty entertaining and makes for some great dialogue.
The story includes some paranormal elements, and I am all for some supernatural stuff, but I think the story would have been great without this. I would have preferred the story without the Heaven and Angels plot. Take that out, and you get something similar to Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster, but more mellowed out.
One thing that I really did not like was the ending. I was just in the middle of a scene, reading along, then turned to the next page only to find "the end." In the middle of a scene. What the heck? This wasn't a cliffhanger, but instead almost just like a page break. You know, but without the click here to read more link. Also, practically every guy that Grace came across threw themselves at her. I get it, she's pretty, but literally every guy did this.
Other than that, however, it was a nice read and I enjoyed the back and forth between Shane and Grace!
