The first time I read this book, I was out at the laundromat, and I got to a part so horribly heart breaking, that I was crying big fat ugly tears, and I didn't care if anyone saw me! I was destroyed!! Seriously didn't see that coming and let me tell you, I don't cry often while reading, so when a book invokes those kinds of emotions from me, well, then I am THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED!!!- Wrapped Up in Reading
I have a list..a list of authors that I will read no matter what they write, this woman is on said list. This book is a true testament of why she is. - Dawn Two Unruly Girls
Their journey from best friends to lovers felt true and the pace of the story worked perfectly. I was with them every step of the way. Their connection was mesmerizing and their love so captivating that I couldn't control my emotions. I went through all of it. I laughed, cried my eyes out and cheered liked crazy. - Malene- Bad Ass Dirty Books

Lastly, I found the writing to be quite difficult. One of my biggest pet peeves is when authors don't have people check their work before hitting publish. I'm not talking about the occasional mistake, those are expected. But when throughout the whole book Dr. Pierce's name went back and forth between spelling it Pierce and Peirce, even within the same paragraph, it is frustratingly annoying!
WOW WOW WOW!!!! So I finished this book in one sitting at 0500 this am. Oh man! This story is so heartbreakingly beautiful. There are 26 letters in the alphabet and it never ceases to amaze me how many authors can jumble all these letters together and produce something so emotional, raw, and captivating.
This book HAS IT ALL – sweet, funny, sexy, steamy, heartbreaking, heart wrenching, crying ugly tears, healing, forgiveness and LOVE again. This love story is just EPIC.
“… the best part of falling in love was the fall itself”
Dallas and Dean love story begins in high school. She was 15 years old and he was about to graduate and leave for college. They were best friends. Dallas has a horrible crush on her older friend but she does not understand why he doesn’t want her back. Dean loves the spitfire Dallas but he knows better to go near her in that way because she is too young. After high school Dallas joins Dean at college – there she finally gets what she wanted – Dean all to herself but it was short lived… Dean is in his last year and once again leaving for medical school in New York. They made each other promises but life just got in the way. They broke each other hearts. Seven years later, Dean waltzed back in to Dallas’s life in hopes of resuming where they left off. He is determined to win her back and finally fulfill his promise to her. But Dallas is no longer the naive young woman he foolishly left behind. Dallas now as a career to focus on and boyfriend to love. With so much hurt, regret and so much time passed, can Dean convince Dallas to remember … the fall? Everyone loved and lost differently right? Can she open her heart and forgive him? Can she forgive herself?
“I want all of you, Dallas. Every single piece. Even the ones I broke.”
This is easily one of my favorite books this year. Dallas is a spitfire – she is funny, straight to the point, and does not sugar coat. She loves Dean so deep and so fully. Dean is equally full of love and affection. Their chemistry is palpable and they are adorable together. The author did such an amazing job with describing the characters. You cannot miss the passion, love and angst between Dallas and Dean. There is just a perfect balance between dialogues and narratives with a perfect pace that keep you intrigued the whole time.
“…. When we found love to give it every we had. That no matter the outcome, the result of handing yourself over to love would be that you had truly lived through the act of loving alone…”
I am sorry about all these quotes but I can’t help it. My kindle is totally lit with all the beautiful quotes so that I to go back and read it over and over again. Sometimes when you read a book that has the right flow, loveable characters, intelligent dialogue, beautiful narrative, and believable love story – it makes for a beautiful masterpiece.
This book definitely will be in my read-again pile although I don’t think I will forget this love story anytime soon.
PS: I would love to read Rose’s story – she has gone through so much in her young life and I love nothing more than for her to have a HEA (possibly with Jack?)
I also want Josh (the HOT chef) to have a HEA with someone – he is genuinely a good guy but he loves a woman who gave her heart away long time ago.
This book is a standalone. Best friends to lovers, second chance romance. Alternating past and present (mostly present).
And Dean.. agh Dean. He's funny and charming and sexy as hell... Her womanizing bff turned lover, turned heart breaker.
Okay so onto the story. Dean and Dallas meet in high
school. He is a senior to her freshman and both are insanely attracted to the other. But, she is too young and because Dean respects her and wants to be a gentleman, they can only be friends.
Queue angst. Holy crap! Kate takes you right back to those teenage years... the naivety, the insecurities, the butterflies and jealousy. I was that teen girl in love with her best friend. The bonus here is you get his POV as well. You can tell how completely in love Dean is with Dallas and all of his reasons for not acting on his feelings. So, when he screws half the town, you can't even hate him!
And that is just the beginning... after high school comes college and eventually a relationship and, yes... more heartbreak.
In the present they meetup years later and the pull is still there. But, they have so much history and not all of it good... Is their childhood love enough to get them through their problems... is such a rocky past worth risking their present relationships and the happiness they've managed to attain?
If you are an angst whore like me, you will LOVE this book. These characters became so real to me. I love them so much and was sad when it ended. The supporting characters also were great. Kate threw in some curve balls that I did not see coming. I laughed and I cried my eyes out... and at one point... I wanted to punch Kate in her beautiful face...(love you Kate... how could you???). This book will take you on an amazing emotional journey. I can't wait to see where these other characters end up!
With each book Kate writes, I am blown away. She always brings the feels... the humor... the originality. I keep waiting for a time when she will let me down but she just never does. Kate has become an automatic one-click for me... an author who speaks my language... a real treasure!

Once I got past the 8% mark I was completely invested in the story. The author made me go through all the feels, and let me say I was completely unprepared to ugly cry when a certain event happened.
The Fall is a beautiful story about second chances, it does deliver the angst I wanted to read earlier and let me say it was hot hot hot when it turned up! Dallas and Dean’s journey is not an easy one; there are secrets to be told, a tug of closure in overcoming a painful breakup and grasping hold of second chances. Both characters have a lot to work through emotionally; dealing with the present as it collided with the past, unresolved issues causing anger, heartache and resentment to surface, whilst also opening up to healing, forgiveness and rekindled feelings. Whilst Dallas tries to keep Dean who broke her heart at a distance, let me tell you Dean Martin is all in to win the love of his life back, so ladies be prepared to seriously soon over him because he is persistent, possessive, sexy, passionate, loving and a little naughty.
The emotions in this story just poured out in the author’s words. She portrayed a story that covered real life issues and her supporting characters added to this. This rated four stars as I said I wanted to see the angst happen earlier when Dean and Dallas first reconnected, and because some scenes were not included i.e. with Dean’s move back home. I also hate an epilogue that jumps too far ahead. The author covered a sensitive subject she made Dallas go through, so as a reader I expected the author to also let me feel the couple’s joy as they experienced what they lost.
Dallas is a strong leading female that gets confused when Dean the man she has always loved comes back into her life. After he walked away Dallas had some massive changes happen in her life which leaves her with doubts about everything.
I was dragged into this book page by page and I couldn't put it Down. I got so emotionally invested spent the last part of the book in tears. I really connected with all the characters including her parents (can't wait to read about them),Rose and Grant :(.
I will definitely be one-click the rest of this series.
1 click now you will not be disappointed
When reading the reviews for this book i seen people write how they cried reading it, my first thought - "how can people possibly cry at a book, i mean come on. Ive read hundreds of romance books and never once shed a tear" .. well.. i cried! And I laughed and I felt.
An amazing novel, fantastic storyline. I need more of Dean and Dallas!!
Dean Martin was her tornado since he swirled into her life at 15 and left behind a destructive path by the time she was 20. Broken - Dallas Whitaker swore that no man would ever hurt her again.
7 years later that Tornado was back this time this time stronger and once again crashing into her life but this time Dallas had built impenetrable walls ensuring that the Tornado would not cause her to fall. She had moved on and she was no longer that young girl and of course she now had Josh......and Dean was engaged to Hannah......but Tornado's have indestructible power and determination and no matter how much barrier's you put in their way they manage to swirl through breaking everything in its path.
The Tornado was coming for her - she felt its eminence and its path was clear - it wanted her and no matter how fast she ran from its path it would get her but which angry vortex would make her fall this time? The boy who took half of her heart at 15 or the man who held it now?
this is the 5th Kate Stewart read for me and each book has just got better and better. This story had so much, it was well written and I loved the characters. Such an emotional read and I had to get the tissues out but for me it was an epic love story.
"Tu tienes la otra mitad de mi corazon, y no puedo vivir sin ella"
"You have the other half of my heart and I can't live without it"
I absolutely loved it.
