There is a sense of loss one can't help but feel when listening to fictional stories that nonetheless speak to the loss that has occurred with the rise of big cities. One feels like they are a part of the community Keillor discusses, and you really get a sense of how rural life has its downsides but also many positive aspects to it as well. Keillor approaches the subject with humour and insight, and his stories are a great way to spend some free time on a fall evening. I would highly recommend pouring a cup of whatever alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink relaxes you, dimming the lights, and putting this on during a fall evening for some good old fashioned storytelling.
