This is not my favorite JLA book at all. In fact, I'm really disappointed in it. Roxy was supposed to be cute, quirky, a tad naive and independent. She is truly childish, selfish and stupid. I hate to think that of the heroine or protagonist but it's the only feelings I walked away with. I did not enjoy her at all and there was not enough character development for Reese, IMO. So little, that I truly didn't care if these two ended up together or not.
It won't stop me from buying anymore of her books but it certainly put me off books for a few days.
One thing that had me rolling my eyes were the instances in her apartment. How many times did she think something was wrong and didn't do a thing about it? Just chalked it up to her apt being "haunted" in a facetious way. Completely stupid. Then there was the incident with the cell phone. Call me crazy but if a stalker is seconds from leaving your home when you wake up, call the police. Don't scroll through your contacts wondering who to call first. Stupid doesn't begin to cover it. I can't even list the many little things that irritated me.

Jennifer Armentrout’s Wait for You series is one of my favorite New Adult series. I love how all the books are connected together by reoccurring secondary characters, but each story still has a unique feel to it. Roxy and Reese’s story was different than I had expected, which made it even more enjoyable. Fall with Me was the perfect mix of steam, romance, emotion, and suspense. I was intrigued by what we saw of Roxy and Reese in Stay with Me and looked forward to seeing why Roxy was so intent on avoiding Reese. What I didn’t count on was Armentrout breaking my heart in the process with a story of friendship and the pain and guilt of regret.

Roxy has been in love with Officer Reese Anders since she was 15 years old. They had a one-night stand almost a year ago, but Reese made it clear he wished that night never happened. Hurt by Reese’s apparent dismissal of their time together, Roxy does her best to distance herself from him. Suddenly she begins to receive scary messages that make her worry about her safety. Believing it is the man who ruined her best friend’s life and is currently looking for forgiveness, Roxy reluctantly involves the man who broke her heart. Reese is determined to keep Roxy safe at all costs, as well as set the record straight about their past and future together.

Probably since Armentrout is an auto-buy author for me, I realized after I had started Fall with Me that I had never actually read the synopsis and knew what had happened to Roxy’s friend. That first chapter hit me hard. Roxy’s anguish and guilt were palpable. Although as a reader I never held her at fault, I think that if I were in her shoes I would have felt the same way she did. Despite her self-blame, Roxy was a dedicated and loving friend.

This book was not great. Every time she transitioned scenes it was done so poorly the reader had no idea what was going on. Also in one chapter she switched Roxy's brothers' names so often and one of them wasn't said to be present. The errors in the story make this a very hard book to read. I enjoyed it as a contemporary romance that appeals to readers of an often overlooked age group, however, it could really benefit from better proof-reading and continuity. This book was recommended by other authors I really enjoy but I doubt I'll be reading another J.Lynn book after this experience.

I have read every book in the Wait for You series and this one was OK. The writing, as always, was wonderful. It was well-paced and flowed beautifully. The story fell a little flat for me. The story was all about Roxy and not much about Reece. I would have liked to read more about his background and what makes him tick because he is one sexy man!

“God, Reece looked great in casual clothes, panties-on-fire hot when he was wearing his police uniform, and when he was naked, he could seriously induce a visual orgasm.

And I’d seen him naked. Well, sort of. Okay, totally saw his goods, and they were goodie-gumdrops kind of good.”

Roxy was a great character. I loved that she was a little spitfire that had trouble tempering her emotions. I would have liked to see more relationship development between Roxy and Reece. The story seemed to flit between Roxy’s issues with Charlie, then Henry, then the stalker, and then Reece. There was just a lot going on, which I think lessened the impact of their growing relationship.

The big scenes where Roxy should be breaking down completely are skimmed over and take place as a memory after the action has happened. I really wish that we got to see the scenes unfold as they happened and not as a mention later on looking back. They would have been raw and soul crushing, but ended up being kind of “eh.”

I hate having to say all these things because Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors. However, overall, this is not her best story, though her writing is still fantastic. I really enjoy her paranormal books more so than her contemporary new adult books. She just has a way of creating the supernatural that cannot be matched.

I will continue to read the books for the Wait for You series. I cannot wait to find out how Nick, the king of one night stands, gets roped into love!
