He used to be a good man. Full of life, until he was crowned king.
His mother poisoned him and cursed him to a life of wickedness. Little by little that once good man turned evil!
Death, destruction and treachery leaves him a broken man.
He receives a message after he banishes the queen his mother. That in order for Alrik's curse to be lifted he must find Abbigail Krenshaw! She is the key to ending all his suffering. But there is a problem when she kills the queen she will die.
Not thinking any of it, Alrik finds Abbigail and trains her for the epic fight. Abby has no idea of her fate, she believes that after its all over she will go back to her mom and go back to her normal life.
Alrik did not expect Abby to be such a firecracker! She brings out the best in him, kind of like his past ex lover who was sadly killed in the last book.
Slowly but surely these two fall head over heals. Alrik not only cares about his tortured soul, but he can't go through with losing another person he loves with all of his being. He is my favorite character in the Bellum Sister series. He has come along way, from only caring about himself to a man that would sacrifice himself to protect his Abbigail.
The Epic battle will leave you breathless, holding onto the edge of your seats! The showdown between Abbigail and his mother, while Alrik watches in the distance.
I will tell you, Alrik has been through hell and back. His mother the one person he trusted the most stabbed him right in the back, his brother betrayed him when he needed him most. And his ex lover died in his arms. Nothing can get worse than that. But it does! Alrik falls hard for Abby, he never wanted such emotions to come in this circumstance. But it does and his character from the beginning of the series to the very end changed so much!
The romance for this story was spot on! A mere human witch and a demon who felt he didn't belonged. Abbigail and Alrik's story was beautiful, fun and engaging. There was never a dull moment in the Bellum Sisters, and this one is my top favorite.
I'm sad to see such a great series come to a close. Now I must cry in sadness.
Another book I love by T.A. Grey! As a whole, the Bellum Sisters Series is actually great to read, so I recommend the entire series. But the Fallen King is my favorite out of the series. I just loved the beautiful love story between Alrik and Abby as well as the character development that Alrik goes through - truly amazing. He was once a king that held great power and status, but was banished and learned how to live humbly while seeking revenge for the one who cursed him and made him into someone he didn't like - someone who wasn't who he truly was. The drama, suspense, and action are all quite interesting, too, giving this book more depth in the story and in Alrik and Abby's relationship.
The reasons for the 4-star rating are purely selfish on my part. Ultimately, this is T.A. Grey's story, so she can write it how she likes. However, I would have liked to learn more about Alrik and Talel's brotherhood and how they healed their relationship. I wanted to know what the kingdom thought of Alrik after his transformation and the truth about the curse. I wanted to know more about Aidan and the other outcast warriors; Aidan especially, though, since he was a more prominent figure in the group of outcasts. I can't help but make the connection that Aidan might be somehow related to Tyrian... unless it's purely coincidence... If you read Chains of Frost, you'll know what I mean. Plus, I thought Aidan was really sweet; just a troubled soul. I thought the ending was a bit rushed and the story was a bit rushed in general since I would have liked more details on the other characters as well as the aftermath of the defeat of the banished Queen.
Otherwise, great story by T.A. Grey!
I think her stories are so imaginative and have great promise, and they'd be amazing if she hired an editor or even just read through the book herself to clean up the repeated words. I don't like paying four dollars for something that reads like it's free with all the errors.
