Libby Brownlee has come home to escape her mentor, who attacked her in his office. She wants a break and to recover from the experience. However, when Navy SEAL Calvin "Coop" Cooper shows up on Libby's doorstep to talk to her father, Libby's world is changed forever. Coop has lost his family in a devastating natural disaster and is ordered to speak to the family of a fallen SEAL. When he meets Libby, he is intrigued. However, her father is not happy that the Navy is intruding on his life again. When Libby's cat is killed and her family is terrorized, Coop knows he shouldn't get involved but can't stop himself.
If you're looking for a great team of special operators on American soil, this series is for you!
*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book had more sexy heat, but not as much fighting action as book 1 but I think that is what I liked about it. There wasn't as much action so it wasn't overloaded like book 1 and allowed me to enjoy it more. This had more storyline and didn't have 18 different POV's like the previous book. It focused on the main people instead, allowing me to become more invested into the characters. Only 1 story going on most of the time vs 3 or 4 at the same time.
Like the characters, the storyline and the dialogue between the characters.
This is a multi pov but more focused on Cooper (and the Seals) vs. Libby (but then it is a Seals book so that makes sense)
All in all a good read/listen (have as audio book) The narrator got on my nerves at times but not as bad as in book 1. (yes it's the same guy but I think I'm getting used to him, but he still isn't my favorite.)
So.... would I recommend this book/audiobook? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes
Sassy Beta Reading & Review
Calvin "Coop Cooper and Libby Brownlee's story is something that truly touched my heart. I can't imagine the devastating loss that Coop must have felt. Ms Hamilton really found a way to make you feel his despair and hidden grief. Libby experiences the unthinkable at the hands of a trusted mentor. Both think that they aren't relationship material, but as only Ms Hamilton can write a love story there are many twists and turns to their journey of a HEA. The love making was delicious and well written. This is a series that you'll recommend to all of your girlfriends!
The end of their story was beautiful and so heartfelt. It was true to military form.
You may realize by now that one of my litmus tests is if once I read a book, I want to keep reading the author so I look for more in a series. This is what happened after I read Accidental SEAL (SEAL Brotherhood #1). I was happy to see that Sharon Hamilton had kept writing about the members of SEAL Team 3. She stated an intention to box up these two books into another set, but I haven't seen it yet, so I have the two of them just lumped together in this review. Sorry. (You'll get over it.)
Once again, there is a "prequel" book. "SEAL Endeavor" has Coop & Libby having a near-miss at the aquarium. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it introduces you to the characters, but quite frankly - that is what the BOOK is supposed to do. You don't need to read this in order to understand "Fallen SEAL Legacy". To spend 99 cents for 30+ pages of stuff that should be part of a book is a WASTE OF MONEY. Don't do it.
"Fallen SEAL Legacy" takes on the issue of how people mourn for the fallen SEALS. This book was also quite timely since we've just recently had all the losses in Oklahoma (& elsewhere) from tornadoes; Coop's family & homestead had been wiped out in Nebraska from a tornado. When he returns from bereavement leave, his CO assigns him the task of talking to the family of a fallen SEAL. The fallen SEAL's twin brother happens to be Libby's Dad... and thus the love story starts. Even though her uncle died many years prior, his death has had a profound affect on the whole family. As a reader you see how Coop's loss and Libby's loss are handled, and how they all help each other to come to a healthier stage of grief.
This book, however, isn't simply about the psychological effects of loss; at its heart it is a romantic suspense story. Someone is targeting and threatening Libby's Dad, and thus Libby, so Coop tries to keep everyone safe. However, Libby's Dad has a huge dislike of SEALs, so he isn't supportive of their relationship, blah blah blah, and Coop must come to the rescue when the psychopath harms Libby.
Over 350 pages of romance, suspense and SEALS. What more could a girl want? Hmmmm.... maybe another story about SEAL team 3???
