What Readers Are Saying About The Fallen Stars...

What Steph Says...
I had a blast writing The Fallen Stars and it wasn't just because I got to have a fantastic reunion with characters that I'd missed, but because of the research. When I decided Kellen and Calienta would go into hiding, I wanted to pick a place that really seemed to be far removed from Ireland. Keeping with my trend of only writing about places I've visited, I chose Bar Harbor, Maine. Given that Kellen and Gabe went to school at Yale, it wouldn't be a stretch for them to travel to the New England area.

The Stewart's "vacation home" seemed like the perfect escape. I chose Bar Harbor because I new the area well, having honeymooned there. However, it had been awhile since I'd been back, so I piled my Mom, Husband, and two kids into a rented mini-van and drove sixteen hours from Pittsburgh to Bar Harbor.

We stayed in picturesque Otter Creek and I got the chance to visit every place I'd written about in the book and verify my descriptions for accuracy. This included spooky Compass Harbor and pulled in several local legends as I wrote The Fallen Stars. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading about it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Firstly I'd like to thank the author for sending me an e-copy of this book for her book tour.

I really enjoyed The Star Child and as always I felt a little bit concerned that the second book might not live up to my expectations - clearly I shouldn't have worried because somehow The Fallen Stars managed to exceed all my expectations, it was fantastic!

The prologue hinted at more trouble for Kellen and Calienta, I was excited to see where this would take them so I quickly moved on to the first chapter and it seemed that there was a wedding about to take place. This was a lovely way to start the story but when it suddenly turned into a dangerous situation I knew that the adventure had begun! In no time at all I fell back into the storyline aided by gentle reminders of what had happened previously.

This time the story was predominantly set in the real world with the young couple, and Kellen's friend Gabe, on the run and afraid of what the future held. With the second part of the prophecy hanging over their heads and magic weaving through their every move, they attempted to go into hiding.

There was lots of tension, firstly between Kellen and Gabe (something that intrigued me immensely) and also between Kellen and Calienta (but that was a different kind of tension altogether). Their relationship was much more intense this time and so wonderfully written to be exciting yet complex - this author really knows how to write a good kissing scene so watch out for those! The introduction of William complicated everything further and this was a twist that I particularly enjoyed.

This series just keeps getting better. Excellent story telling, no predictability, no idea what might happen next. Several times my jaw dropped. Couldn't put it down! Awesome. Off to read the next one.

I started reading the book on Thursday evening and finished on Sunday morning. Stephanie Keyes manages to take us to a place of magic and fantasy combined with romance and adventure. The book was hard for me to put down as you never know what lies around the next corner for Kennen, Cali & Gabe! I am not a big fan of sequels but this 2nd book outdid the 1st one. I cannot wait for the 3rd one to come out. This is one author I will continue following for years to come! Greatjob and a must read.

As this is the second book of A Star Child Trilogy, something already happened in the first book - A Star Child... Go and read it...and I will... well, read on...

When Kellen St James fulfilled the first part of the old prophecy into the last detail - refusing the immortal life - written in the coastal cave in Ireland, he thought that all he has to do is to marry his immortal Calienta, a goddess who's parents he saved and earn possibility to become immortal.

But that was not what his 'friends' in the underworld of Faerie had in mind. They crash into their wedding and of course wedding is off. They are on the run again, but Calienta chooses to become mortal anyway...

The second part of the prophecy - the part Calienta (aka Cali) didn't tell Kellen is on it's way... Will Kellen and Cali managed to avoid the inevitable... well, read the book and find out...

The second book starts with a slow pace (at least for me as I read before the After Faerie - a short story what is going on between the books) and afterwards you are thrown in a roller-coaster of actions. As the story is told by two main characters, you must be ready to shift between both of them. One story seen through the two different views...

New characters are well introduced and I'm sure some of them we will see in the third book of A Star Child Trilogy. As for the old characters we already knew from the first book, quite some of them made a great progress in a development.

All I can say for the end is: Read the books! :)

I was anxiously awaiting this book as the sequel to The Star Child. Stephanie Keyes wrote yet another great book, as I couldn't wait to find out what would happen with Kellen and Calienta. I couldn't put the book down!

When I read book one in this series, The Star Child, I was loving fantasy books at the time and though that was one of the most enjoyable fantasy novels I’d read, I’ve since gone off that kind of novel a little bit. But not one to resist Stephanie Keyes stunning writing, I threw myself into The Fallen Stars and recaptured my love for the fantasy novel. As much as I was a fan of The Star Child, The Fallen Stars was even better and has left me massively looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I was really interested to learn more about Kellen and Calienta – I adored both their characters in The Star Child but here they’re developed even more. Stephanie has a great way with her development of characters in that she gets me to the stage where I don’t think they can be built on anymore and then she completely switches things around and leaves me guessing. Trying to work out who could and couldn’t be trusted was a bit of added charm that made reading this book even more worthwhile. Kellen’s best friend Gabe has also got a much bigger role to play in The Fallen Stars and his characterisation and involvement was delivered in spectacular style.

I could credit Stephanie for her awesome characters all day long but there’s so much else to love here. The plot twists, the unpredictable journey she takes us on – I loved it all but what I enjoyed the most, even though I didn’t want it to come, was the ending. What a brilliant way to finish a book, safe in the knowledge that every single reader of The Fallen Stars will *have* to continue reading this wonderful series. Fast paced and fantastic, this is 500+ pages of writing you’d be crazy to miss.

5/5.
