Sparks immediately flew when Francie Piccard, manager of Roller Fun roller skating rink met her boss, Noah Gordon, owner of Roller Fun. Though obviously both are attracted to each other, the situation is not simply about falling in love.
Noah has been upfront that he does not do long term relationships, but why is he staying around to be with Francie? And just to throw a monkey wrench in the works, Brent McIntosh, Francie's former figure skating partner wants her back on the ice to try for Olympic gold. So why is Francie back in Gettysburg and not in New York training?
An enjoyable read of a very tight storyline, the author presented us a sweet and poignant love story that keeps you cheering for the hero and the heroine. While both are not perfect and definitely carries their respective emotional baggages, you also cannot help but fall in love with Francie and Noah for their "joie de vivre." And best of all, they do not have the annoying habit of not knowing what to do. Both are straight shooters, hence there were no dull moments in the book. It hard to put down once you started.
She goes back home and gets a job with the local roller rink. She works hard to make it more successful then it's ever been. Even though she has never had any real experience in this kind of job, the man who owns it has enough confidence for the both of them, that she has enough knowledge to get the job done and done right. It doesn't take long for her to figure out what is lacking and starts to make all the necessary changes to make it better. It doesn't take long before she is able to take it from years of being in the red, to bringing it back into the black. This roller rink is one of the only enjoyments that the town has to offer. In fact; it's been there for as long as most of the people in that town can even remember. Then she's shocked to find her old boss is no longer with them. The reasons behind his leaving are sort of hush, hush.
Now however, she has a visit from her new boss and it isn't long before she finds herself falling hard for him. Her family has a lot to say about her romance and her career.
This story is a very fast read, one that will pulled me in and kept the pages turning quickly..
What I liked most about this story is that it's about close family bonds, friends, and a bunch of caring towns people.
Her real biggest problem...
How do you make someone fall in love with you when that person does not even know how to love? Or better yet, the same person who has the power to take away from you something you hold dear. Something that could take not only hers, but the whole towns only livelihood away, if she can't change his mind about selling out.
If you're looking for a real good romance, with a few twists and turns, this book won't disappoint. I highly recommend this book.
The story was very well-written and well-edited with only a few minor errors which didn't interfere with the smooth flow of the story. The dialogue was very authentic and the imagery was both graphic and realistic. All the characters, both major and minor, had well-fleshed out and three-dimensional personalities that were very likable.
I was very lucky to get this book for free but it would have been worth paying for. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a terrific love story.
Gordon, shows up, he is welcomed by her whole family. Then he tells Francie that he is
selling the rink. She begins to fight it, knowing that many people will lose their job.
What will happen?
