So, Noah has issues. He is a successful adult but it seems everyone is down on him because he left town and didn't come back. In a lot of worlds that is not a problem but this group seems to really be down on him because he didn't stay around and take care of his grandmother. His sister was there and she was there for the grandmother so it wasn't like she was totally alone.
Emma has always had a thing for Noah but he never sticks around so nothing ever came of her crush. Now in this story we are faced with the "bro code" which is, " not with my sister you don't". This is something I have a hard time understanding. You have a best friend and he is closer than your blood brother. You would give your life for him and he would do the same. You know everything about him and he knows all about you. There is nothing he can do that you haven't done yourself YET, you don't want him to date your sister. I don't get this. Rather than have your sister date and fall in love with your best friend, someone you know, you would rather her date some random dude that could be a serial killer, or married, or just a jerk? Really, don't understand that thinking.
Now, what is even worse as a female your best friend is the sister to the guy you have the hot's for. Then to have that best friend tell your "love" that he is to stay away from you. Then when your heart is broke because he won't call the said best friend doesn't mention that she told her brother to stay away, she just acts like her brother is a jerk. Now, do you think this girl needs an enemy when she has this best friend doing her deed and calling it what is best for you.
The story about friends is a good storyline. SP0ILER...I just felt these people were way to involved in each others business. They were a bit on the "high school" type of behavior. They were all college graduates, involved in great careers so I would assume they are late 20's or early 30's yet they acted like they were much younger. Maybe just immature. All the friends stayed in their small home town but Noah. He was very successful in business and traveled all over the world. The rest of the group seemed to be down on him because he didn't stay in the hometown. They were doing what they wanted to do but didn't want him to do what he wanted to do. It really got on my last nerve with them being all in each others business to the point of being totally annoying.
It is a good story and I would recommend it. There were just points that I found annoying but that is just me. Everyone does what needs to be done to create a HEA for Noah and Emma.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/9/17
This book focus on a group of friends, 3 sets of siblings. All are older brother/younger sister pairs. Noah is the one friend who left their home town for any real length of time. When he returns, he discovers he’s attracted to the woman who used to have a crush on him.
There are some elements of “oh come on” during the story and some “please Emma, look after yourself.” But, overall it was a story that I could embrace as sweet. Noah had a lot of emotional growth to get through for them to find their happy ending.
The characters were fun and engaging and had me curious about how the rest of the group will pair up.
The story was fun to read I didn't really liked Noah, yes he has issues and everyone talks about the big heart he is hiding, I didn't see it and wasn't sure why and when he fell for her. What was his attitude to her when they were kids, other than the nickname we don't hear about his actual feeling for her than just all of a sudden in the present she is the missing peace of his heart. his sister was annoying, the way she interfered and no one said anything about it.. so annoying but not something that ruined it for me.
Overall enjoyable book.
This was a good start to a (new-to-me) series and I will be reading the others.
