From the Inside Flap

Praise for Falling Hard (Billionaires in Disguise: Lizzy, #1):

"Blair's books just get better! If you thought Wulf and Rae's story was great, then Lizzie's will blow it out the water. Full of twists and turns, a Romantic Theo and darker Mannix, you'll be left on the edge of your seat. There's a nice little twist at the end as well. You'd be mad to miss this book!" ~~  Review, Kelly Davidson

"Can't wait for the next book! After reading Rae and Wulf's story, I thought Billionaires in Disguise couldn't get more exciting, but I was wrong! Lizzie's story makes you feel so much, at once. It'll break your heart, give you hope and make you dream again. It'll definitely leave you at the edge of your seat, wanting more." ~~ Review, Kaye Ams

Initially the timeline started out a little confusing for me; I'll just come straight out and say that the introduction flat-out threw me off. Add in that this series is connected to character from the previous series, Billionaires in Disguise: Rae, and that the timeline is essentially the same, it took me a little while to adjust from the Lizzy I remembered from the previous series and connect with her character in the setting of having her own story. Once I got over that little hiccup the book really started to take off for me!

I loved getting to know Lizzy better and connecting with her character. There is so much more depth to her than was anticipating; I underestimated her because of my previous experience with her being a supporting character. I always thought of Lizzy as pleasant and caring, but to see her inner struggles, insecurities and emotions coming through was an eye opening experience for me. By a quarter of the way in I was 100% hooked.

Lizzy is a female powerhouse. Emotionally abused, physically damaged, mentally conflicted and sexually unsatisfied; she views herself as broken but at the same time uses her strength and outward beauty to her advantage every day. Her over the top Jersey girl attitude that's packed into such a pint sized body is a winning combination every time.

Her will to survive and stand on her own two feet is admirable and at the same time she has this soft and vulnerable side that I just couldn't help falling in love with.

I found Falling Hard to be an erotic adventure, it IS still the Devilhouse after all! Once again pushing the limits as it delves into the heat of subspace bliss and explores dominant settings that are both terrifying and tantalizing. A fast paced, engaging and emotional rollercoaster; Falling Hard overcame its initial challenges and left me satisfied while at the same time yearning for more. It's what the Devilhouse is known for, after all!

First, let me say that I was slightly confused by the name change from The Devilhouse Books to Billionaires in Disguise when I got my ARC, but I am happy that they continue to call the club The Devilhouse. I had been anxiously awaiting the new series for a couple of weeks. I found the first book in the Devilhouse Books: Rae on one of the many pages that I "like" and decided to download it, since it was free and I had not heard of Blair before. I read the book within a few hours of purchasing it and absolutely loved it. I loved it so much that I went back and purchased the whole series (1-9) and read those as well. Blair's writing is exceptional and so easy to follow.

We had been advised on Blair's FB page that Lizzy's story would give us more of Wulf and Rae, which I was really happy about. There were so many things that I still wanted to know about them and the other characters that we first saw in Rae's story. Knowing that Lizzy and Georgie were being flown over to Paris for Rae's wedding was enough to soothe my angst until the new series came out. In Falling Hard: Episode 1 of Billionaires in Disguise: Lizzy, we get to go back to the same time that we originally met Rae and the girls and see everything from Lizzy's POV. I have to say, I thought we would see more of Rae and Wulf than we do, but it's not enough to upset me, because I love the way Blair is taking us through this. And the *cliffhanger* at the end of this first book will leave you breathless and wanting more. I didn't see the connection until that very last few pages. I can only hope that the next three episodes are as exciting as this one.

Has the Anastasia-Steele-and-Christian-Grey-mystique completely taken over? Is it now the thing for college-aged women to want to be and/or to let themselves be brutalized, physically and emotionally, by "Doms"? Because I really can't see too much difference here from the famous "Fifty Shades". And while I liked seeing Ana and Christian grow as human beings, separate from the whole weird sex fetish stuff, I can't say I particularly want to suffer through another series of such torturous love. Maybe I'm just too old for this kind of story, but once was definitely enough for me. And what's with the gratuitous violence? It's one thing to tase a guy intent on date rape, and knock him unconscious. It's a whole other thing to do it again, and get him in the gonads. Why? Once as punishment for being a jerk I understand, and is good for protecting one's friend and saving her from the consequences of her own idiocy. A second is gratuitous violence, and it sent me on a downward spiral where this book was concerned, a spiral from which I never recovered. I crashed and burned

I couldn't wait to read this next book on the Billionaires in Disguise series previously known as The Devilhouse Books, I had really liked Lizzy as a secondary character when the the action was focused on Rae and Wulf so I was very excited to see that she was getting her own series.
Lizzy always struck me as such a helpful person, wanting to lend a hand and support her friends but there was always an air of sadness around her and I worried about what she was getting into, well now we are finding out, going back to the very start so that this series will run concurrently with the Rae series, but from a different POV and with different stars. Lizzy being center stage, and we are starting to find out her secrets, which endears her even more when you hear what she has been through to get where she is.
But who is the hero going to be, Theo with his quiet restrained personality that because of his past mistakes may have royally messed it up with Lizzy or with Mannix the ex pro footballer who likes to inflict pain and who seems to have found some control over Lizzy. With a twist at the end of this episode that I certainly didn't see coming I can't wait until the next episode to find out more about Lizzy and where she is going to end up, I hope we find out more about Rae and Wulf too as I love meeting up with old friends.
I received a free copy for an honest review.
