The story was well written and as I mentioned, this could have been a four star read but I just didn't like all the uncertainty between the H and the h. That being said, this was my first book by Cate Beauman and I think the seriers has potential. I'd definitely read more in the seriers, would just hope for a different story line. The series is sequential but each books works fine as a stand-alone. A 3.5 STAR READ.
Just a note: I purchased this book on sale but it is available as a free monthly borrow for Amazon Prime Members at the time this review was written
Hunter, his wife, Ethan, Sarah and her daughter have become a little family during the last two years after Jake's death. This network has allowed Sarah to move on in her life. At least that's what she thinks. However, Ethan's feeling towards her have gradually changed and slowly slowly Sarah realizes that the tension between her and Ethan must mean something. Is she willing to really move on with her life and how will Hunter adopt to the news?
I know that my summary is more than sketchy but I can't really go into more details without giving too much away.
This book is a classical suspense romance, where the suspense part was clearly subordinate and less elaborate compared to the romance part. According to my opinion each of both strings of the plot had one distinct disadvantage. More detailed, I believe that the biggest disadvantage of the suspense part was definitely the missing development of the villain's character and motivation behind his actions. Yes, there were some minor implications but they should have been more elaborate to offer further depth to the book.
The romance part was clearly predominant and better developed. The only disadvantage was the multiple back and forth between the two main characters and how each of them considered their relationship and common future. However, exactly this back and forth was so well explained and conveyed that Ethan's and Sarah's indecisions were understandable and comprehensible.
The author crafted and maintained throughout the book an emotional atmosphere that I have come rarely across in any kind of literature. She managed to absorb me completely in the ambience and offered me many hours of outstanding reading pleasure!!
Lots of twists and turns and shocking revelations. It was hard to put this one down. I highly recommend this to everyone. An amazing series, that I can't get enough of.
