I liked this song by the frames, so when I heard this version that is more on the
acoustic side, ithought sounds O.K.! so I downloaded it, the main part of some is still
in tact, the main difference is the girl and piano!!!!

Was searching one day trying to find this song... Compared iTunes to Amazon and on the day of my search Amazon was cheaper, so a no-brainer. Downolad was easy, the Amazon Cloud Player is cool and the Amazon download merges perfectly into your iTunes library. It isn't a song I listen to everyday, but it strikes a chord when you feeling the emotion for it.

When I first heard this song it moved me from my seat! I pressed rewind about 15 times! Then I heard a version of it on American Idol by Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox....moved me again. But the original is still my favorite! It is a song of a lifetime...will never go out of style. Beautiful melody and the harmonies are out of this world! Love love love it!

I saw this song performed on the Oscars about 5 years ago. It doesn't get any radio play where I live and I didn't hear it again until I came across "Once" on Showtime. I instantly remembered the song and then went to Amazon to buy it. Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard maybe didn't work out as a romantic couple, but as a songwriting / performing duo they really do compliment each other well.

Though I've never seen the movie from which this song came, it is one of my favorites. The lyrics are haunting and sync perfectly with the rather melancholy melody provided by the acoustic guitar and piano. That description belies the uplifting quality this song has. It's wonderful to listen to no matter what mood you may be in.

I actually knowingly stumbled across Glen Hansard after watching the music video associated with "The Odd Life of Timothy Green." As I was watching it, I kept thinking that he looked familiar, but couldn't place his face. After looking him up on Wikipedia, I discovered the reason: He and Marketa Irglova both starred in "Once", a movie I had seen years ago. This song was in the movie and it is outstanding!

It's a song you just don't forget hearing before. When I heard it while watching "Once" I had to put on pause and find out where I'd heard it before, From what I found I think it must have been "So You Think You Can Dance." It's a definite one-of-a-kind. I've never heard anything like it.

This song starts with some melancholy piano into which male and female vocal harmonies enter. The male part tends to dominate with the chorus and some strings enter. It makes for a simple but stirring musical statement. The male voice has an untrained quality that has a lot of soul to it. Toward the middle of the song the orchestra takes a more active role as the song builds to a slow, subtle climax. Mellow piano dominates but with strong orchestral accents.
