A world standard was set with the Fallkniven A1 through attention to important details including technical design, ergonomics and economy. The Fallkniven A1 surpasses international standards for strength, personal security capabilities, and value for money. The Fallkniven A1 is an all-purpose knife on the larger side designed for heavy duty use. The powerful blade is made of extremely hard and tough Laminated VG10 steel, and will withstand the stress of hard use. The knife is superb at chopping as well finer daily cutting tasks thanks to the ergonomic grip. The full tang goes entirely through the handle so you can strike with the end of it without breaking the grip. The sturdy Zytel sheath allows you to fasten the knife on your belt or your pack, and even upside down. The Fallkniven A1 is Unaffected by water and works equally well in extreme cold and stifling heat.

The A1's balance is perfect, it's impeccably finished and the convex ground blade inspires confidence that it will stand up to hard use. There are more cost effective options that will do the same job but none I've found that would do it with as much class. I really like the SRK but if was to own only one fixed blade survival knife of this size it would be the Fallkniven A1.
What prevents this from being a five star rating is the following. The minor complaint is the plastic sheath; I don't like it. It rattles around and just is not appealing, however you could replace it potentially. The more major complaint is that the knife came with a nice solid edge but was really dull. It could not cut through paper in a nice smooth motion, could not cut an apple, but still could hack and split wood very well. Sharpened it up and was great, not great that I had to sharpen it up, BUT it seems that some people had their knife sharp right out of the box. I did not, so just be aware of that.
Still a good buy, would suggest it. Enjoy.
I decided to do some research after hearing about the Fallkniven A1 from some of the guys at work. I've read dozens of reviews and watched many videos on youtube that support the claims of my fellow grunts. Upon receiving it I noticed how the attention to detail and how handsome the blade looked. It is a very simple design, yet it exudes quality. The blade is thick enough to be able to handle batoning (I have yet to test this) and it has a very good weight that feels very balanced in your hand. It feels a little forward heavy which I like because it will help with cutting and hacking. The steel is VG-10 sandwiched in between two stainless steel slabs. The VG10 is a very high quality steel with great edge retention.
Overall, I believe that this blade is worth every penny, and it has earned all the praise that it gets.
