What if you had everything you wanted career-wise, and absolutely nothing was right in your personal life? That is the heroine's dilemma in this charming Christmas novella. A Family For Christmas is a top-notch holiday read. There were several unexpected moments and the characters felt very real. Though the story is short, the author let time lapse before the epilogue, so that the ultimate happy ending felt appropriate and well deserved. Loved it!

A Family for Christmas is a short read, but within its pages Helen Scott Taylor has crammed many poignant truths. Trust your instincts when you meet someone who feels "just right". Grief can bog you down and destroy relationships. Finding the perfect person is often dependent on an unlikely chance encounter. Children are sometimes more perceptive than adults. Christmas memories can be a source of comfort and joy. If you want to enjoy a heart warming Christmas story, you'll love this book.

What a delightful novella with appealing characters, lovely descriptions, and a sprinkle of suspense. Little Polly, Pickle the lamb, Noodles the Collie, and Polly's inseparable Barbie add their touch to a story oozing with emotion by messing up Eve's and Tom's lives with their antics and demands. The tough career woman and the disabused ex-husband learn to reassess their values and discover love in the spirit of Christmas.

This is a heartwarming novella with a cozy atmosphere just right for a winter read. When Eve's car gets stranded in the snow out in the English countryside, little does she know the handsome and kind man who rescues her will change her life. After the death of her parents, Eve lost her sense of belonging anywhere and has been focusing on her career. Tom, a former banker, has his own pain in a failed marriage that left his daughter Polly motherless. He has relocated to a farm that is beautifully depicted by the author. Polly is adorable and immediately wins both Eve's and the reader's heart. It is through her that Tom and Eve recognize their attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful and satisfying Christmas story and recommend it highly.

If I would have realized this was a romance I would never have bought this book. I was looking for something to get the Christmas season started, it had good reviews so I purchased it. What a great story. It quickly reminded me how easy it is to get caught up in the world and missing life.

I am a guy that has never read a romance in my life. This was much more than what I would expect a romance Novell to be. My oldest grand child is about Polly's age. It really helped me to realize what a blessing family is in this busy world we get caught in.

Besides that I was just on vacation in the countryside of England not far from where this took place. It was a story book in its self. I think I will read this to my 7 year old grand daughter. It will make a great bonding moment.

Thank you

My Take:
5 Stars!
Oh! I have found myself a new Romance author to read more from! Helen Scott Taylor’s, “A Family for Christmas” has been my favorite Christmas story so far this season out of all the Christmas books I’ve read, and I want to read more books written by this author! This is a clean romance of 75 pages long.
Out of the three main characters in this book, two adults and a little girl, the only one out of the three who knew what two people needed most was someone to in their lives to love, and that was a little girl named Polly!
Eve was driving to a meeting that was hours away from her home when a blizzard started. It was dark out by now, and very difficult to see, when an animal of some sort was in the road in front of her. She slowed to miss it, but the ice and snow had her land in the ditch instead.
As Eve was sitting in the ditch, she learned she had no cell service, either. Great. She was really stuck now. She looked around for other vehicles. None. What felt like forever did end when finally along came a tractor. The driver was a man named Tom. He explained to her there was absolutely NO getting her out of that ditch that night with the way the snowstorm was coming down. They could barely see a thing. He told her he realized this sounded strange to her, but she could either try to stay warm in her car overnight, or she could go home and stay with him. She was really stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either sit here and worry about dying of hypothermia, or maybe be safe with Tom. He had a friendly face, so she leerily trusted her gut and went with him.
Once they reached his very nice home, (phew!) she was met by his six-year-old daughter, Polly. She was adorable! As the night went on, Polly became really close to Eve, even clingy.

Eve, a career woman headed to a meeting in another town, is stranded out in the country during a blizzard. Tom just happens to come along and rescue her. He takes her back to his house where Eve meets his young daughter, Polly. Eve and Tom and Polly fall in love, and everything turns out happy. This is a cute, feel-good story and a very short novella--68 pages. The thing I didn't like about it was when Tom asked Eve to move in with him. Why didn't he marry her first?
