Teddy Thompson, together with parents Richard and Linda, brother Jack, younger sister Kami, her husband James Walbourne, and nephew Zak Hobbs collectively dubbed Thompson will release a collaborative album of all new original songs entitled Family (Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group). The album's 2-Disc (1CD+1DVD) Deluxe Edition features the beautifully rendered 15-minute film 'Thompson: The Making of Family' on DVD. Utilizing interviews, studio footage and vintage family photos, the film captures the warmth, intelligence and humor of this supremely talented family as they record together for the very first time.

I don’t have the MP3 version, which is basically the 10 songs – two songs each written by Richard, Linda, Teddy, James or Kami. They total just 41 minutes.
For the Single CD version the CD comes in a digipak with a 12 page booklet which consists of 2 pages with the lyrics, two inside pages of photos and 2 pages listing the track credits (so you can see who wrote and performed on which song.) The front and back cover of the booklet are solid color.
The “Deluxe” version looks virtually the same on front and back but is a Tri-fold digipak. The booklet is 16 pages this time but there additional four pages are just more photos (without captions). And then there is the DVD that runs just under 15 minutes where you hear comments on the project from all the members – including some snide comments between Linda and Richard – who are never filmed together. In fact, in the end you see everyone BUT Richard together. This DVD gave me more of a feel for understanding the project and so I’d recommend going with that if you can. But, as long as you have read why the project was done, you’ll be okay with the single CD version . I wouldn’t recommend the MP3 only because the liner note booklet is so informative.
I hope you found this review both informative and helpful!
But I have to say, I am done buying my CDs in this lousy, useless, unprotective cardboard-garbage packaging!
The Jewel case was/is the PERFECT way to distribute CDs!
I'll have to pass on discs sold in paper.
