This book is based on the premise of a family with a secret -- for centuries they have worked as assassins who kill to make the world a better place. The pitfalls in that idea are huge but not explored in this book. Instead we get family alphas beating their chests and the younger set struggling with various insecurities.

Parts of this book were enjoyable as the characters pulled off their exploits. Parts were ethically challenging to say the least although one could hope those questions would be addressed in more depth in a sequel.

And there's at least one very unintentionally funny line when it's stated that a brother and sister are twins, but not identical.

All in all, somewhat diverting but not great.

Well geez... where's the rest of it? Apart from the fact there is no hint of when or where the next book might or might not appear, this is an outstanding read. It's a bit confusing with switches back and forth among the characters and sub plots but the braiding of various strands is skillfully done. This is a wow book and the next, should it appear, will most likely be a five star. I only give those to books that will be read again and again, the true test of literature in my opinion. Enjoy... it's that good.

This was an exciting story, plenty of action and excitement. Over all, the writing was good and the story came together. (The story was told from various protagonists' activities, but eventually it all jelled.)

However, the frequent misuse of apostrophes was incredibly distracting and annoying. The only time an apostrophe is used, other than in a contraction, is in the possessive form. NOT IN PLURALS. Please, edit out the frequent apostrophes, they are just wrong.

The large cast of characters and simultaneous plot lines is, at times, difficult to follow. Yet, both undoubtedly add to appeal of the book as the story is multifaceted and keeps the reader entertained. There is a feeling that the authors are setting a broad stage to prepare the reader for something bigger than expected. I believe we've hardly scratched the surface of what is sure to be a dense and fascinating story. I found myself engaged within the first chapter, finished within the day and already looking forward to the next book.

This book kept me totally interested throughout the entire book - I have a habit of skipping over paragraphs, or sometimes whole pages, of descriptive words about scenery, emotions, history, etc., in books because I just want to get back to the story....but I read every word in this book. I've already started reading Book 2 of the this series and am looking forward to Book 3. Love the characters and their "missions."

BUYER BEWARE: This trilogy is NOT FINISHED. The first book was published January 2014. The second book was published April 2014. The third book has yet to be published. While this is a very good read it needs to be finished. I'll update my rating after book three is published.

This book did not make you wait to get completely submerged in the story. It is like you have a birds-eye view of the entire thing as the action twist and turns. One of the few books that I did not want to end. I look forward to reading the next book in what I see as a great series.
