I love Michael Tucker's writing! While this book could have had a bit more "food discussion", which Mr. Tucker does so well, it was a wonderful and very intimate look into how we face the situation of aging parents. Mr. Tucker's writing is clear and straight forward while also revealing feelings and intimate thoughts and giving you laugh out loud moments. Always a complete package wrapped up as a gift.

Tucker writes frankly and well, about the a difficult situation many of us have had to face; caring for an aging parent. Uplifting, funny & moving, this book will leave you wanting a few more chapters.

I really enjoyed this book. My mother who has dementia moved in with me a few months ago and it's been a learning process. Their experiences ring true in dealing with caregivers and I like their honesty about the mixed emotions involved.

Mr. Tucker, Mr. Tucker! Thank you. "Family Meals" is a feast.
Sharing ones personal life can be tough, but Tucker handles it with such wit, wisdom, and passion. This book is for anyone who is in the midst of dealing with an aging parent and trying to have your own life at the same time. By far his best book, yet. Tucker's writing has reached another level. I must admit that all I wanted was more tastes and smells of Italy, but Tucker gives us real life. Grazie.

I enjoyed Michael Tucker's OTHER book about moving to Tuscany ("Living in a Foreign Language") much more than I liked this newer effort. I felt that he used the "aging parent" angle to sell this book, while it doesn't seem to me that he cares for his mother-in-law all that much. It seemed a bit gratuitous to me and rang a false note.
