From the Author

From Maddie James...
I didn't grow up doing much cooking other than following the recipe on the back of the Toll House chocolate chips bag, or the directions on the back of the pizza box--but what I did learn was how to be creative. My sister and I experimented with pizza toppings, just to make it a little different. That included hotdogs, pickles, and likely an overdose of oregano. Who can forget the Velveeta cheese? We didn't care how it turned out, really, and our Dad always ate every bite. Having a rare Coke with those homemade pizzas was a treat, and we loved every minute of it.

Over the years, I acquired a family and my cooking skills were perfected. I suppose that Home Economics degree taught me a few things about technique, as well. As a writer, I've also been keeping a food journal for years. The result? The dabbling in, the talking about, and the sharing of recipes--not to mention coercing friends and acquaintances to give up their best stories and recipes--culminates into this creation, Family Stories, Family Recipes. I hope you enjoy.

This book has some fairly decent recipes that appear to be family favorites of the author. Combined with some stories of the family, it makes for a somewhat interesting book/cookbook. A better table of contents would have been nice.
