Picked this up as I am in it's prime target audience: grew up in central Indiana in the 1960's and into the 70's. Unfortunately, I also pretty disappointed in this slim volume of scattershot and pretty poorly written book. While it was fun to have memories rekindled and see a few photos I was unfamiliar with, I cannot say that the author, who interjects herself into this a lot, was particularly interesting, informative or entertaining company. It'll do, but it wouldn't take a lot to exceed this. Since the audience for this is pretty limited, it is unlikely we'll see somebody else try, so I guess it'll HAVE to do.

This book made me smile for days. Then I'd carry it around as a conversation starter. Sammy Terry ruled Friday nights! I knew I was finally a big kid when I managed to stay awake through a whole feature film. I still remember the title. And Cowboy Bob, Janie, Treble Clef, Gilroy Gopher, Sourdough the Singing Biscuit, Marhofer wieners and shake-shake-shake Choc-ola! My kids have no idea how important it was to have these local heroes. So glad the author gathered these stories and pictures!

What a wonderful look back at some local TV stars! For any Indiana native, this book is sure to bring back some lovely memories. Author, Julie Young does a fantastic job of weaving the local celebrities own tidbits in with some very special viewer and fan experiences. From spooky Sammy Terry all the way through to cool Commander KC, these Indiana icons and their stories make for a fun read!
