As the stock photo attests, it is an attractive domed canopy that will attract a lot of attention. It has a huge 14x14 footprint, with a built-in, non-detachable floor. Because of the domed design, however, it yields only about 130 square ft of shade at high noon. Still that compares favorably with 10x10 square canopies at twice the price, and provided ample shelter and SPF 50 protection for the four adults and two kids in our clan.
Assembly is fairly straightforward, and can be assembled/disassembled by two people with relative ease. Simply unfold the ground cover, thread the 4 shock-corded 1/2" poles through the ridge guides, secure the poles at the corner footers, and anchor with stakes. The manufacturer recommends a practice setup in one's backyard before deploying to more exotic climes like beaches or mountaintops, and I heartily endorse their suggestion. Nothing like knowing what you're doing before you have to do it.
There are, however, two complicating factors in the setup (neither of which are the fault of the product). Wind is the number one issue. It can turn a 2-person job into a 4+ person job. Not much you can do about it. Just make sure you have a person on each corner of the floor/ground cover for setup, take down, and when folding for storage. The other issue is turf (or in the case of my beach set up, the lack of it).Read more ›
One thing I wanted to mention that has not been stated anywhere on this product is that, it has four D rings in each corner of the ceiling, that I hung LED Christmas light off for lighting at night.
