The ship stats are exactly the same as those that come in the core set so there is nothing new there, so let's look at some of the unique card.
Jaina's Light, a Unique Name that increases the CR90 Corvette A's use as a harasser as it can ignore overlapping obstacles and its attacks cannot be obstructed. With its speed or by pairing it up with the Assault Frigate I can think of strategies that make this ship very annoying. Cost 2 points
Tantive IV, a Unique Name that can give its command token for the round to another friendly ship up to 5 distance away, Cost 3 points. While I can see the value of this ability which is fairly versatile, I find myself preferring the aggressive power of Jaina's Light to the Tantive's support power.
Raymus Antilles, a Commander that allows you to both execute a command and gain a matching command token for the ship. Cost 7. A versatile ability that gives you plenty of command tokens to serve as emergency backups if you find yourself misreading your opponent's strategy. Probably most useful with the Assault Frigate Mk II in you fleet because of it high command value.
Mon Mothma, a commander that improves all Evade defense tokens by allowing you to cancel 1 die at medium range or reroll 1 die at close range. And this ability activates anytime a friendly ship resolves its Evade token. Her cost is 30, but that is understandable considering how much she improves the survivability of all Rebel ships, particularly the CR90 Corvette. Having Mon Mothma and 2 or more CR90's in your fleet would make for a very annoying situation for the Imperial player.
Would I recommend this expansion? I would give it a maybe. If you want to be able to have as many options for Rebel fleet compositions as possible or if you simply like having small ships zooming around then this would be a nice choice to get. As for the upgrades, I don't really see any of the upgrades that come in this expansion as key components for fleet compositions with the possible exception of Mon Mothma since her ability aids all Rebel Ships.
Honestly I would have really liked it if they had made a C and D version of the CR90, then I would say getting this expansion is a must. As it is I would say that this one expansion you could do without or at the very least that getting the Rebel Starfighters, Nebulon-B Frigate, and Assault Frigate Mk II expansions first should be your priority.
