M83 ended when Nicolas left

He should've dropped the name M83 and called it "Anthony Gonzalez and the Lack" or something because it has not been the same since Nicolas Fromageau left the band, and Anthony went his merry self-indulgent way. At least with this new album he realised he's not a very good singer and has gone back to the humming and choir-like sounds he likes so much instead of trying to be a pop singer wanting all the attention on himself, but it's the same mess as the last few albums, uninspired and derivative, not new, almost copycat even reaching back to his old catalogues and re-hashing some of them, it's that obvious. If he was going to do that why did he start singing, it was always an ambient sound-effects band, not for pop songs, that he's gone back to as much as he could, here.
I truly wish he would change the name of the band, because it's not M83 as I knew them, when Nicolas was around.

I’ve been a huge fan of Anthony’s for 20 years. His style morphs with every album, yet he remains true to his own, unique sound. This album is extremely complex and I’m so glad he released it. It’s beautiful, sad, triumphant, powerful, and soothing. Definitely takes you to a fantasy land. Buy it. You will not regret it.
Note: My kids do not like to look at the guy with multiple eyes on the cover. Lol.

If your a fan of M83 this new release is a must have. Compositions are varied, complex and beautiful. Again though here is my ongoing rant... Today's vinyl is complete garbage. This like almost every other vinyl LP is riddled with snap, crackle, pop surface noise. It's really evident on this LP because of the quiet passages. Beautiful quiet passages ruined by crackle and pops. As I have done with 95% vinyl purchase lately I sent the 1st delivery back to see if there's any luck getting a better pressing. Unfortunately the second was just as bad. I will continue to support these musicians buying their vinyl releases as I think they actaul make good return on vinyl but I will most likely stream the music on Spotify or Tidal to get the best sonic experience. Very unfortunate and frustrating that vinyl quality is so questionable. It's a real gamble buying LPs these days but thank god for Amazon's no questions asked return/replace policy. I've tried absolutely everything to make this format of music sound as best as possible (wet cleaning, static gun, new $1250 Nagaoka MP500 cartridge, different setup/alignments, stylus cleaning solution, different TTs, etc...). I've come to a depressing conclusion that it is impossible to make them sound acceptable. The equipment, skill, and QC just doesn't seem to exist in today's pressing plants which from what I have read are old and just trying to keep up with demand.

Some people are satisfied with the status quo and say it's more of a connection to the physical music on a vinyl LP and you should expect surface noise. I can and do appreciate that concept but if record labels are charging $45-$75 a recording in my humble opinion we should all expect close to perfection. I can say I do have some dead quiet LPs that sound absolutely amazing when I crank my system up so the technology does exist.

Five stars for the music.
Two stars for the vinyl quality... Again!

From the time I discovered M83, I have bought every album and M83 never disappoints. I am a fan of synth and electronic music (from the 80's onward) and M83 pulls off sounding modern and retro sound at the same time. M83 is electronic infused with emotion and to me it is one of the best in this genre.
