Fantech FR Series Centrifugal Fans
The FR Series is a versatile inline duct fan. These models can be used for multiple point exhaust, residential and commercial applications, crawl space venting or make-up air supply. They are also widely used as booster fans to move air from one room or area to another. These models are not designed for nor should be used in radon applications.
The fans feature a fully sealed plastic housing. An air-tight fan ensures that efficiency is not lost and contaminants are not spilled due to leakage.
Thermal overload protected with automatic reset. The fans can be controlled via a solid state speed controller.
Meets and exceeds US and Canada specifications.
Energy Star Rated
Meets and exceeds requirements for Energy Star ratings.
Certified by the Home Ventilation Institute to ensure fair standards and comparable performance features.
The fans feature a fully sealed plastic housing. The housing is joined via a vibration welding process. The process uses transverse, reciprocating motion at the point of contact between the housing’s inlet and outlet pieces. The friction produces heat that melts the thermoplastic material at the interface. The melted material quickly re-solidifies, resulting in a fused, single-piece housing. The fused seam is inherently air tight, very strong and permanent. No screws or adhesive is used to join the housing pieces. An air-tight fan ensures that efficiency is not lost and contaminants are not spilled due to leakage.

The label on the received item says the capacity is 150 CFM, not 167 CFM as stated in the product description, but the 167 CFM (according to Fantech technical support) is for static, unloaded operation, and the 150 CFM is for operation under load. The variance is not mentioned in the product description and probably would be found exceptionable only by "outsiders", who may not realize that rating a fan in unloaded operation would be one reasonably simple, standard metric for comparison purposes.
The inlets and outlets have outside diameter of 3.95" (by caliper measurement), but the shoulder of the inlet/outlet allows a snug fit to the wide end of the Fernco part 1051-44 Flex Coupling when pushed down firmly to the wiring junction box on the side of the FR110. The other end of the coupling fits perfectly on 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC, which is my application. This is key information for people with this application, and it took me hours of looking before finally obtaining the info from Fantech tech support.
By the way, I would give Fantech support five stars for their extra effort to actually pull an FR110 off the shelf and check the fit to a metal duct for a grill -- which is not my application, but it shows the level of Fantech support. When I called, the staff was busy helping others so I left my name and number, and they actually called me back right away. Twice.
Finally, the quality of the received item seems very high, to be confirmed through operation over time.
Took a bit of doing but I mounted the fan vertically in the attic (the vent pipe was inaccessible and, in fact was crimped in the attic...
Used expanding aluminum tubing, some big clamps, ran the Romex inside the tube to the old fan for power and ease of switch installation and my wife LOVES it. Virtually no noise at all from the fan. The only sound is that of the air being pulled from the bathroom.
Now I'm ordering two more for my rental house bathrooms. Clears the room of steam in a minute and odors in less.
This is a really great product.
remember: bigger fans are quieter than smaller ones. if you're shopping for a radon solution, you'll probably want this one over the smaller ones, provided your piping will fit.
