There were a few bugs in the game, and some issues with the port to PC (multi-function keys weren't documented very well, some functions require 3 hands to implement with a keyboard and mouse, changing key bindings from default will cause problems). The initial intro was too long, and there are multiple unskippable cutscenes throughout. Now that most of the bugs are fixed, I'm about 40 hours into the game. I plan on replaying again. I won't spoil it with exact details, but there are several decision points that affect the ending, so I want to try again with different choices). One big improvement over FC3 is the auto-crafting of some items (like health injections) as you need them. If you have the items in your backpack, when you use one injector another is crafted for you. Aside from the fact that the developers seem to want to show off how well they can make cartoons, which detracts from gameplay, overall the game is entertaining and in my opinion, one of the few recently released games that's actually worth full price. One note: Using an elephant as a mobile firing platform is awesome! Also, the buzzer (mini-heli) is very convenient for finding items off the roads.

I was a little disappointed in the quality of the Pagan Min statue, but the game was pretty solid and fun to play so I'll forgive that. Most likely will not be getting another collector's edition game from UbiSoft, though I'll consider it on a case by case basis.

I was not going to rate this.

I bought the DVD edition because I wanted to play it on my machine which has no connection to the Internet, i.e., I wanted to play offline.

During the install, it mentioned that I would need an Internet connection. I have had other programs that did the same; they however provided an alternate process if you didn't have an Internet connection. (For Ubisoft's information, the way you do that is for the program to provide a code, presumably based on the machine description, which the user then transfers to an online machine and pastes into an input box conveniently placed on a web page; you then issue a second code which the user transfers back to the offline machine to authenticate the program.)

Unfortunately, Ubisoft demands that you have a machine that is online in order to play the game which is sold on DVDs. Okay, my mistake, live and learn. I had decided that I was going to write off the cost and never buy from Ubisoft again, but I wasn't going to complain about it.

And then I discovered that you can't uninstall the program if your machine is offline! The only way to clean the GBs of FarCry stuff -- that you can't use -- off of an offline machine is to manually search the disks and registry for "FarCry", "Ubisoft", and "Uplay". I don't know if there are any other names that I should have searched for.

If Ubisoft wants to make sure that you can never ever use their software offline, okay, that's their business. I won't be their customer, but it's their business. However, if they are going to ensure that you can't even uninstall their program if your machine is offline, they should make that extremely, extremely clear in the installation process.
