The shiny outer surface is really nice but I think I would have to be careful with scrubbing and washing it so as not to make any scratches. On my first wash, I only used rubber-gloved-hands and detergent, no sponge - it came out fine. But once washed, it is best to dry it immediately so that water marks will not form on it's shiny surface.
Beware the handles are metal and they get really hot during the cooking process.
After my first use (making chicken stock), there was considerable "staining" inside the pot (see pic). I can only imagine how it would look after long use. For some people, it is not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if it did not stain as much just after one use.
I have not had any problems with discoloration but I wash the pot promptly after using it. Besides making stock, I have also used this to make gallons of pasta sauce and other dishes such as halupki (stuffed cabbage rolls).
It did not scorch the bottom, did not burn, was a powerhouse. I was able to not stir constantly! I am now ordering the 16 quart to do larger batches!
