From lobster pot to soup pot, this multipurpose cookware combo can be used with or without the steamer insert, and boasts a full cap base featuring a thick aluminum core surrounded by stainless steel for rapid, even heating on any stovetop, including induction. Heavy-duty stainless steel is polished to a mirror finish for a classic touch and the stacking steamer pot is dishwasher safe and oven safe to 350°F.

Functional as well as beautiful, this 3-quart saucepot and 2-quart steamer insert are made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pot has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pot and the steamer, the pot bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pot without dripping. Because the pot is 4-1/2 inches deep and comes with a tight-fitting, domed lid, it is roomy enough to simmer stocks and soups and can also be used for braising veal shanks or for cooking chili on the stovetop or in the oven. I have 2 sets of Fisler stainless pots that is a little heavy. This Farberwear stainless pot is light and its bottom has a thick aluminum core surrounded by stainless, so the thermal conductivity is high and evenly cooked. I highly recommend it.

Second purchase: I have been looking for a 18/10 stainless steel 3-tier steamer, but none seems to be available, so I purchased a second Farberware steamer pot of to see if I could stack a second steamer and it fits!!! I will be trying them and update on how the cooking went!

Lifetime warranty!!! Only possible when the product is of the best quality.

Works well as steamer but handles get really hot. There will be a water line in bottom pot if hand washing is a little hard to get out. It works well and is what I wanted in a streamer. Not to big and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

This steamer is the mainstay of my kitchen cookware. I have purchased 2 in the past (last being 2010) and am about to buy a third. This is not because of any fault on the part of the Farberware company, just on myself, the user. I am a forgetful cook and am known for my burned pots and pans. This one takes it well, and normally I can scrub off the "burny" stuff, but with daily use over several years, these mishaps add up, and I'm again ready for a new one, if nothing more, for aesthetic reasons. And I'm happy to pay the moderate price. Since I use it daily, I like to leave it on my stove, ready for the next meal, and so I want it to look nice, and after 4-5 years of my "accidents," it's no longer that pretty, although functional.

The fact that the handles get hot is not a big issue with me. I have pot holders and use them appropriately.

This is a very nice quality steamer, and if you're a cook who likes fresh veggies, properly cooked, you will love it. I also steam meats occasionally (chicken, fish) for a fat-free meal, and this steamer is not only good, it's also quick. Yams come out nicely and as tasty as they do from the oven, as long as you're not one who needs crispy baked skins. I can honestly say I couldn't keep house without my Farberware steamer, and am looking forward to my new one...with promises to myself to be more careful with it this time! But if, after too many burn-outs, I need a new one, I'll gladly shell out the $29 or so again for this good-quality product.

My copy arrived in a timely fashion and in new condition, though I bought the "clearance/open box" version. After finding out that boiling or microwaving reduces nutrients in vegetables by 70% (Alton Brown, among others) I decided to give this a try. After finding the best heat and time settings I am now a steamer-only cook. The superior taste alone is worth the investment in this steamer with the knowledge that I/we are getting far better nutrition as a big bonus benefit. The brighter and cleaner appearance of the end product seals the deal and draining is a snap.
In the reviews there are allegations that the material is not stainless steel. To test the steel composition all that is needed is a magnet. Using a strong magnet reveals that the components are slightly attractive to the magnet, confirming that all are indeed stainless steel. The very best stainless will have no attraction to the strongest of magnets, so this is consistent with the grade of stainless claimed in the description.
Durability: I haven't had my set for even a month yet so I cannot offer anything here other than the obvious. I expect if I use this assembly over a forge and let it go dry, it will take on the appearance that one reviewer posted photos of. Grade school science should have taught us that water can only reach 212° F (100° C), beyond which there will only be invisible steam. Obviously, the vessel will no longer have any liquid water to cool it and away we go!

I'm not one to get overly steamed up about things, but my wife liked my first attempt at steaming vegetables. I put three types in the basket at once - carrots, broccoli, and spring onions, and steamed them for 10 minutes. Even my wife agreed that the succulent taste of the vegetables was preserved, each with its own distinct flavour. There is about 2 inches of room for water below the basket, so you'd have to be absent for a long time to boil the pot dry. It is important to follow the simple instructions - put the steamer on a correctly matching size burner, and then the handles won't get too hot from heat going up the outer sides.
ADDED AFTER 2 MONTHS: I just ordered my second one of these as the first was such a success. Now I can steam cook a piece of fish (salmon or halibut) and also steam my vegetables in the other. This means that I can cook a highly nutritious and healthy meal with very easy clean up, and no knowledge of fancy recipes.

This pot is just the right size for one or two portions and cooks really well. I have used it on both gas and induction (yes, it seems to work perfectly for induction - the test magnet stuck to it and it worked on my Aroma Induction hobb.). The only thing I don't like is the handles which are inadequate, small and get hot so you always have to use a pot-holder. Because it's small this isn't too much of a burden; nonetheless it is a design flaw that I hope Faber can improve on.
