Top customer reviews
I have had two knives break in the middle (one the bread knife and the other used to cut veggies). When the plastic connector between blade breaks, the blade will collapse onto your hand/fingers - essentially jack-knifing.
This is not only an inferior product design, but a dangerous product design. And just to be clear, I broke the last knife will cutting a tab of butter from the refrigerator - not frozen, just refrigerated. So the pressure was minimal.
The knives were washed in the dishwasher, but then we didn't call a family meeting to advise everyone the knives were not dishwasher safe.
So, be wary of this product. We have switched to solid knife - blade & handle all one piece and they are much better than these Farberware "stamped" knives.
I've started replacing them with commercial kitchen knives, I'm working on accumulating a Mundial 5600 series set which are wonderful knives... If you want cheap knives, don't buy farberware, buy commercial knives. You can get a real bargain on knives that don't look pretty but are still high quality forged blades (unlike these stamped knives). I paid $15 for my 8" chef's knife, $15 for a Santoku, $8 for a paring knife, and $10 for a serrated slicing knife... So for the price of this set you can have 4 extremely high quality knives that will do almost everything you need in the kitchen.
If you're thinking about buying these, just don't.
Save up. Buy a better set. This one will just be a waste of $60 bucks.
