Shipping and packing was wonderful. The hardcover of the book was nice, the binding is pulling away from the lower quarter of the book. The dust jacket is a little worn. The recipes are wonderful. I am getting ready for a traditional apple pie today. Just submitted a picture of the double crust on pg 21 with the recipe old fashioned apple pie on pg 51.

I got my mother another of this cookbook, as her copy was falling apart - after 30 years of hard use. My mother has had this pie cook book since I was a little girl, and she is an amazing pie maker. My mother has imparted to me her tricks of the trade and a lot of her base recipes come from this classic cook book. These recipes taste great and have simple instructions, and come out good every time. I have picked up pie recipes here and there, and tried other cookbooks but this is the classic standard cookbook that every serious pie maker should have. The recipes themselves come out great and they are such that you can tweak it here and there, if you want, to put your own signature on it. This cook book covers a comprehensive range of different kinds of pies. Highly recommend!

This is my 3rd copy of this book. First was given by my mother when book was new. Got so ragged, was help together with rubber bands. Much loved, several recipes have become staples for holiday dinners. 2nd copy was confiscated by house mouse (just disappeared), so had to get a 3rd. Cannot live without this pie book. Most especially the Best-Ever Lemon Meringue (pg 124) and Snowstorm Squash (I used pumpkin) (pgs 113,114). Wouldn't dare show up for Thanksgiving dinner without a pie and they all come from this wonderful book.

This is a great, old-fashioned pie cookbook. There are hundreds of recipes for all kinds of pies. There are a lot of *chiffon* pie recipes, but even if the thought of those makes you uncomfortable, there are plenty of other recipes in the cookbook, as well. There are literally pages of rhubarb pie recipes (for instance), as well as multiple green tomato pie recipes, etc.

If you like pie, this is a cookbook to seek out.

This is the quintessential cook book for pies. I made the mistake of throwing it away while cleaning and paring down, only to miss it and reordered it. I will keep this cookbook until the end! The strawberry glace pie recipe is the favorite of my oldest son and my husband, not to mention everyone who eats it. Instead of a birthday cake, my kids and husband ask for pies.
