Branch is damaged and holding much of himself back. He gives her all he can and she takes it. She wants more but knows the score. There is a time limit on their relationship.
Branch believed he could walk away, to protect her from him and from his past. He underestimated that tiny slip of a woman.
She knows he's not fully invested because he's been honest about it. But she's determined to break down his walls. Smiles and touches and acceptance of her life are signs he's falling.
But his past is no fully in the past and he has to resolve that before he can decide what to do about Evangeline. Protect her or live in the now.
Friends come through for both of them in so many ways. The Honey is more than a sex club, its where these friends met and look out for each other. Friendship and love might just save them both.
Branch intrigued me in The Deep End and his character is amazing. You can't help but want to give this man your heart. Evangeline and Branch are beautiful together.
As much as I love this story, I struggle with some of the verbiage in this series. For me, it's hard to read and it was even harder to listen to. There's a lot of get me, got me, give me and what feels like incomplete sentences. Sometimes I had to read paragraphs twice to fully understand what was being said (same with The Deep End). It won't stop me from reading more in the series because I like the characters and storyline, but it does frustrate me at times.
We got a taste of Branch after The Deep End, and it was such a good teaser of the man. Who was he, what was he doing, I NEED MORE! And more I got in The Farthest Edge.
Branch - I wanted to know more throughout the whole book. What was his past, what happened to him, can he be the man for Evangeline. It was clear that he was a man with no past but could he come out of that to be Evangeline's?
Evangeline - a darn good Domme. There was a tragic event that made her pull away from her lifestyle. Is Branch the one that can bring her back?
If I had to give a VERY basic overview of this book for someone, it would be just two people trying to overcome their pasts to be together.
What readers get is so so much more than that. Kristen Ashley writes the most amazing words that create the most amazing characters. Characters that are real and you want in your life. Characters that make you feel everything - laughs, tears, heartache, love.
The Deep End and The Farthest Edge are two of my most favorite books EVER. As I read these books, I kept thinking that I can't wait to re read them again! If I could give more stars to this book, I would!
Do you ever find yourself speaking KA macho man speak after reading one of her books? Ha! I do. I catch myself and smile when I realize that's what I'm doing. But these characters just grow on you. I get so wrapped up in what I'm reading, it's as though I'm there with them and everything around me disappears. I know some of the reviewers don't like this series as much, but I have a hard time with that because to me, the characters and the actual story are just as good. No, I don't participate in the club lifestyle. However I'm openminded enough to enjoy reading it, and if you take away the sex club and all the extra props/gadgets, it's just hot scenes that we're used to getting from KA. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series about Stellan and Sixx and I really hope to see Branch's friend Cam/Travis again. He deserves to find his happy and I'd love to see that he does.
