This is a hard cover book 6 5/8 " X 8 ¼", and as hard as a book you would buy for a young child. The pages are hard and thick, too--so it is very durable, with 16 inner pages. 2 pages open to display a scene spread of bubble activity. Around the scene is some verbiage. There are 10 sound buttons on the sound module, which match up with the numbers and scenes. Here's an example.
Scene #3 is called "Blowing Smoke", from the Latin "outburstus smogitupus".
Field Marks: . . .bending boughs and flaring nostrils. . .
Voice: . . .song longer than all other species. . . (song?--Ha!)
Habitat:. . .meadows. . .
Range. . .Southern US. . .
Description:. . .has been known to extinguish matches. . .
Then you push button #3 and LYAO! (laugh your. . .)
Scene #5 is probably my favorite, though "The Flight of the Buttock Bees" or analretentivenus producii, for those who speak Latin. The scene is a bunch of tightly interwoven cubicles, with smoke rising from the center cubicle.
This book is a birthday gift for a primarily left-brained tekki friend. I cannot wait to see his face! (I love to make friends laugh'
This read is just to heady and academic for kids and I can't see adults reading either.
This is good for a gag gift but lame otherwise.
