Good virtual reality sensor mounting rods.

I use these to mount my HTC Vive virtual reality light boxes. These work better than a curtain rod since they can be angled, which is exactly what I needed for my angled vaulted ceiling.

The only negative is that pressing in the two "nubs" with your fingers to slide up/down the pole can be tough. On the other hand, adjusting the inner pipe with the ratcheting handle is very easy though.

Good product for hanging HTC Vive lightboxes

I used these to semi-permanently hang HTC Vive lightboxes with FastCap 3rd Hand Support System 57-to-144-Inches, 2-pack #3HAND5

I've had them up for at least a month and no problems whatsoever. I have fairly tall ceilings (~11'), and while they are a little flexible when extended to that height, they still work great.

I found the instructions were a little confusing, but I've never used a product like this before. Once you understand the operating principle, they are easy to use. Easy to install alone, but it helps a little to have a friend for tall ceilings.

My only point of complain is that the "feet" that are in contact with the ceiling are just general hard plastic. I put some microfiber cloths between the feet and the ceiling (painted surface) to make sure no marks were left. I also don't really care for the firetruck red, but they're not really supposed to be permanent decorations anyway.

Not enough strength to support pole dancing.

I bought these to use with my HTC Vive VR setup. I'm hanging the 'lighthouses' on these bars (using these clamps: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PICAE4C/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_19) so that I don't have to drill holes in the walls. The poles worked well but they're very heavy and strong (more so than I needed) and kind of a hassle to lug around. I imagine they'd be great for construction use as they're intended. I knocked off a star because one of them broke... no idea how. One of the spring loaded pins that hold the bar in place went missing so I have to stick a screw/wire thru the holes to hold it in place. It still works but I dunno why it broke. I still haven't seen a better pole for my purpose so I guess that I'd buy them again if I needed to.

Good quality, with a caveat.

I am just getting ready to put these guys to work. I have played around with them and they look like they will get the job done. They are very solid with heavy gauge steel tubing, but I would recommend some care in transport/storage as the handles are plastic. Not cheap plastic, but plastic just the same. These are not built like load locks one would find on a truck, which take an incredible amount of abuse. Put it this way, I would not be throwing these into a van and piling heavy crap on top of them, just use common sense when transporting/storing. In the right hands these should last a lifetime, just don't give these to that lunatic everyone has in their shop. You know the guy, always slamming and breaking things, the guy that could break an anvil, there are more than a few of those guys out here. As of now, I would recommend these to a friend and would purchase again if lost, stolen.

Update: They work. Imagine that?

I purchased a pair of these to allow me to install a grid of Unistrut type metal channels on the roof of my workshop by myself. Turns out I only needed but one for that task. I would lean the 3rd Hand against a ladder and then climb the ladder with the strut in one hand. I would place the center of the strut where it needed to be and hold it in place with one hand and then grab the 3rd Hand with the other and place it under the strut and then squeeze the lever to clamp it against the strut to hold it in place against the ceiling. I could then start installing fasteners to attach the strut to the ceiling. I also purchased the 3rd Hand laser attachment clamp and have projects where that combination will also come in very handy. The supports were easy to adjust and operate and were sufficiently sturdy to apply sufficient clamping force to hold steel struts in place against a ceiling. I never felt my head bone was in jeopardy as I proceeded with work on the ten foot long steel channels clamped against the ceiling.

Work Great Difficult to Adjust

Once you get the sheet rock in place, it takes about a minute to put these where they need to be so that no one needs to help the sheet rock upside down. The lever adjusts to several heights, but it's difficult to use. You have to push in two pins on the pole that are REALLY hard to push in, every time you need to adjust it more than a few inches.
