I loved this book. It brought all the characters back from Deeper We Fall and dove in more depths into their stories. I fell in love with Stryker...he was compassionate, sexy, understanding, and patient! He tried to be honest most of the time....and felt bad when he wasn't. What woman wouldn't want that. My emotions were all over the place while reading it but I also couldn't put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen......I am hoping there will be more from this crew. I am really enjoying them!!!

While I think that New Adult is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I must admit that every now and again I find that it becomes... stale (stale in the sense that oftentimes the plots of the books/ the characters are near identical- broken girl who has a bad history with a male, playerish bad boy, love/ hate relationship, falling into one another's beds, girl's past coming to light, girl running away, boy chasing girl, happily ever after, and companion novel for secondary character). However, when I find myself becoming frustrated with the genre, I read one of Chelsea's books and it completely restores my faith in it- Chelsea and her characters truly march to the beat of their own drums.

Stryker and Katie are perhaps one of my most favourite NA characters ever. Why? Because they compliment one another so perfectly. Both aren't afraid to tell it like it is, each one is able to life the other out of the darkness that consumes them, both realize the importance of friends and family, and so forth. Aside from the characters, another strength of this book are the emotions- specifically the emotions resulting from a situation involving Katie. The depth and realism of these emotions are second to none- I literally had a stomachache/ heart palpitations while reading the scene as I can relate to it so well (this is only the third time ever that I have experienced a physical reaction to the emotions stemming from a book).

Additionally, like the previous book, I LOVED each and every one of the secondary characters in this installment I love the fact that they are truly each their own person/ extremely developed- you have no cookie-cutter or "blah" secondary characters here! I have no doubt that each of them could carry their own books.

Wow omg I loved this book it was awesome "squeals"!! Let me just say it was a little crazy and wild between Katie and Stryker in the beginning. But wow! First it was so hot and steamy, then some crazy drama came along, after that the sniffles "bawling my eyes out" I was so teary that my eyes were puffy and my head hurt, to last the awesomeness feels good love! Even though Katie and Stryker are so different they are perfect for each other. The one thing I loved the most in the book is how Stryker is really there for Katie when she needs him the most. He's so perfect. Her mom doesn't really like him at first but, you can't always judge a book by its cover. Now when I got to the ending it was a little different. You feel like your in the middle of still reading it to turn the page and boop that's it! Of course I still liked it because in the end things were great. I love how the whole gang is still apart of the story like the first book and can't wait to see what's in store for the 3rd one. I will say if I was asked to choose between the first book and second that it would be tough. They are both awesome story's, very well written and easy to read. Once you start you don't want to stop. I was on a two hour road trip today while finishing the rest of this book and once we reached our destination I still couldn't stop reading. I still kept reading the rest of the whole day, here and there till I was done. So Chelsea great job, this book is the best. If asked I recommend it to everyone.

While Faster We Burn is the second book in the Rise and Fall series, it's not entirely necessary to read Deeper We Fall to understand what's going on. It's more satisfying for the reader to know the dynamics of the group of characters beforehand, especially since Lottie and Zan are in Faster We Burn too, but it's not a necessity to follow Katie and Stryker's story.

Faster We Burn is told by the POV of both Katie and Stryker. Their thoughts really complement each other's. The POVs don't just switch off randomly, like I've seen in some other books. The POV switches when it's beneficial to get in the other person's head. Also, both Katie and Stryker have a clear voice, and it's easy to tell the difference between them. You can tell that they're completely different people, but that's what makes them so perfect together.

Really, no matter whose head you're in, you can't help but love Katie and Stryker. Their personalities jump right off the page, and they both seem so real. They can trade insults and they can have meaningful conversations, but you know they're both terrified of admitting to themselves what they feel, and that makes them feel even more real.

I really didn't think I could like another book by Chelsea M. Cameron more than My Favorite Mistake, but Faster We Burn tops even that. I was so impressed I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

I highly recommend Faster We Burn.
