Top Customer Reviews
To my very pleasant surprise although it is made of plastic, it doesn't look cheap. It rotates smoothly and the body is well made. It's very easy to store and clean. Decorating is a breeze when coupled with cake rounds. I plan to use it for a long, long time.
To address some complaints by other reviewers. This was used to frost hundreds of cakes. I did not notice any decline in performance over that time. My only complaint and not a deal breaker because it is very inexpensive is that it tends to walk if you are using a liner and turn the cake by pulling on the liner. Yes its a bad habit started because I used to ice cakes by sliding the liner around the table because again I couldnt use the taller stands.
What I do think might be causing people to have issues with it stopping rotating or dragging is that they were submerging it to wash it. Im not sure if it has stainless bearings or not but I can imagine they could rust since its again a very affordable product. I always used a liner and cleaned and sanitized the top without getting the mechanics wet.
I have frosted cakes that weigh 7 lbs and cakes that weigh 13 oz. I had absolutely no trouble with it rotating freely for any weight of cake. It would always spin freely.
This quickly became the preferred cake stand, the function was much better compared to the wilton inexpensive ones, that actually cost more than this one.
