First of all, it's an easy read, gives you a lot of stories and examples of how other people experienced the diet. It compares all the other diets with this one, shows you the good and the bad.
I was having a hard time losing weight. I was a professional gymnast, I'm very active, work out 3 to 6 days a week, I'm dieting all the time but nothing seems to work for me to shed the extra pounds that I gained.
I did weight watchers and Atkins, I even took pills but nothing worked. Even if I would loose something, the moment I will eat some carbs will gain more than I lost.
So after I read this book I said I'll give it a try. I started to do the 2 weeks meal plan and by the second day I was already feeling better. The recipes are easy to make and the food is delicious. I didn't even felt deprived of anything.
There are 3 phases in the book and there are meal plans recepies and ideas for all 3. Once you heal your leptin resistance you can eat almost everything and stay healthy and thin.
It's been 3 weeks for me and I lost 8 pounds, I feel amazing and very healthy.
This diet is in 3 stages. 2 weeks body cleansing to retrain your body to eat healthy and also to reset the metabolism. It is a lot of healthy veggie foods, that take some prep time. But the more you do it - it comes easy to you. Some of the recipes are meh... but most are totally delicious. My son is on this program with me. We are on day 5. I've lost 5 pounds in the first 3 days and now feel like SOMETHING is finally working for me!!! Wonderful! My son is happy with the diet too. He is seeing results as well.
2 Week Update: I've just weighed myself this morning and I am 11.6 pounds down in 14 days! AMAZING! This is right after a weekend trip to Vegas. For the most part, I stuck to the diet, still enjoyed 2 "regular" meals and still came home 2.2 pounds down from my weigh in on 10/12/14. I do realize it might have been more loss if I would have completely stuck to the diet, but I'm happy with my results. It makes it incredibly hard not to want to keep moving forward with this plan. After years of no weight loss this is working for me. My clothes are fitting looser hope to have to buy some new ones soon. :) My son hasn't weighed in this morning yet, but I can tell you he was down 11.1 in 7 days!!! He is 23, and about 70 pounds overweight, um now he's 58.9 pounds overweight. I'm anxious to see his results this morning. He is thrilled. There's a noticeable difference in his face, belly, and booty. He is already one pants size down. We have decided to stay in stage one for a longer period of time, but still incorporate some of the recipes from stage 2. We haven't tried all of the recipes in stage 1 though, because we've chosen to make the recipes that we thought we would enjoy more. The parmesan chicken is awesome. I even made it for my family in Vegas and they love it. They are also hooked on the egg white omelets. Cooking time is faster when you get the recipes down. I am still enjoying this diet - but that's not to say we haven't had our hard moments with wanting to revert to old habits of food in an instant through a drive thru. My son has talked me down a couple of times, and I had to do the same with him. I'm glad we stuck through it. More updates later...
I can see where super busy people or those not fortunate enough to work from home like me would get frustrated with the cooking element, esp because a lot of the breakfasts are omelets or frittatas. However, if you got creative enough you could easily make some of these ahead in muffin tins for Grab & Go or just get up a bit earlier. It really is worth your health anyway. I would not recommend the book if you are not willing to cook for yourself and cook ahead if you are a busy person. I would also stress the importance of cooking his recipes to get the overall idea of how he wants you to eat.
I also like how the first few stages are grain-free and he stresses that if you want to stay in one of those stages and not extend to the grains, you are welcome to. Overall, I'm impressed after just four days on this diet. Will update as time goes on.
