I have type 2 Diabetes. I was Diagnosed 3 years ago when I went to my Doctor for Chest Pains. For those 3 Years I worked and tried to keep my Sugar low and my exercise up, but with my Employer and Laziness, this was harder task being a truck driver in the DC Metro Area. With my Health in limbo and fading I gave up and went back to old habits and stopped everything. Medication Included. One night after work, with 2 Pizza hut Pizzas on the way with a Diet Coke, My plans were to Veg out in front of the boob tube and watch a Movie on Itunes, I came across this one Called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I'm 42 and I was thinking Planes Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy, you know, you remember watching this when you were a Kid. So I watched the preview and Decided to get it and Watch it. Half way through FSND I went onto Amazon and got a Juicer and it Arrived Saturday November 22 2014 and I went to work Juicing. I felt great!!!!! after I drank the first Juice. and figured I could do this. Well with the Holidays, Thanks Giving, Christmas, and New Years. I slipped, Cheated or fell off the wagon, But I continued to Juice Daily. As For My Doctor, I told him Nothing at the time, I only asked to have my Labs done so I would have a base line to compare this to when I would have them done in a few months to see where I stand at that point. My A1C was a 9.7 in December and my Sugar was Completely out of Control with no hope of ever coming down. Now while I was Juicing I did get back on Metformin 2000mg per day with Juice, Because at the time I dropped food all together. So I juiced and I would eat Carrot Sticks and Celery Stick once or twice each week to keep my G.I. track going. I did this for 60+ Days and Finally it was time to go and get the Second round of Labs done to see If it Worked. February 3, 2015 I went into Kaiser here in Springfield Va. I was the Second one in line to have my Blood Drawn and I was beyond excited to just get the results and go, but testing and Kaiser takes time and I had to wait. Later that day I got the Email that my Results were done and I almost gave myself a Hart attach getting to my PC and logging in. My A1C went from a 9.7 to a 6.5. In less than 2 months and all of my Numbers were good. The very next day my Doctor Called me witch never happens and 2 Nurses called later that day as well asking how I did it so Quick. So I told them the Story you have just read about FSND and they are asking me to come in and talk to others who are Diabetic and sick from other things like, Hi blood pressure, Diabetes and the possibility Juicing may work for them. So, as for today, Saturday Feb, 7, 2015. Being the 77th day of my Reboot. My Sugar is under control I am only taking 500mg of metformin no shots, just Juice. I started this reboot at over 350 pounds, out of shape, and with no hope of anything but a box "Coffin" in my future to being 260 pounds. I Lost over 90 pounds and I feel like a Teenager again. I am going to continue to do this reboot until I get to my goal of 180 Pounds and show others this can be done, there is hope. And Joe Cross, Thanks for Making Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. And Thanks for showing me the way to a better
I was so inspired after watching this movie I pulled my juicer out of the closet and I'm heading to Whole Foods today to pick up some good veggies and fruits. OK, I'm not overweight by hundreds of pounds or much less even fifty but I constantly battle with my weight going up and down 20-30 pounds. When I lose the weight I always feel so great but inevitably real life sets in and I find myself reaching for the wrong foods. Just to watch the weight loss of these two guys, Joe who made the documentary and Phil whom Joe met on his path across America during his 60 day juice fast, and seeing their life transform was amazing. Of course I realize that a juice fast may take the weight off and then after the fact I am left with the daily choices again but I really need to make a change for good this time because when the weight creeps up so does my blood pressure and I do not want to end up on medication. So I am trying the 10 day fast and at the same time I am going to overhaul just how I eat in general. I already know I can lose weight with lowering my carb intake so I am going to combine that with working some raw foods into my daily living after I do the fast. I will report back in about two weeks.
UPDATE! This is one week after I started and as Joe says in the movie: "Hang on to your pineapples", LOL! I lost 9 pounds so far! Woohoo! First I want to point out that I know to be cautious of rapid weight loss. I also want to point out that I found the Reboot site after going to the movie's website and they give you instructions on how to do the diet. They have different diets and after you answer a few short questions it tells you which program may be best for you. I opted for the entry which is not juice only but you also eat raw veggies and fruit and they have recipes. There are other programs where you alternate juicing alone with juicing and raw veggies/fruit. You can join the community and there is a nutritionist and other members who answer your questions or just post progress, suggestions, or questions. (And no it does not cost to join :) _________________________________________________ January 2015... Wow has it really been 3 1/2 years?! Just got done watching the 2nd movie and posted an update with a review. I am sorry I never kept up to date on this especially with the comments I received but I completely forgot about it. I guess I just never expected anyone to pay any attention to my review so it was a surprise. Anyway, I'm doing a "Reboot" starting tomorrow...
I found out about this movie in a totally random way. I was in a checkout line and there was a man in front of me who looked very fit, with tight glowing skin, very healthy. I notice these things because I used to work in a skincare clinic. People who lose weight through crash dieting or fads always have saggy skin, with a weird tone to it. This guy looked like he was born lean. Apparently this was his hometown and he was back visiting because he was approached by two people who had not seen him in over 2 years and after some hugs and handshakes they were going on and on about how great he looked and how did he lose all the weight? I really couldn't help but overhear the convo because it was right in front of me. The man told them he had followed everything the man did in FS&ND. I thought it was a book he was talking about.
Anyways, I kept thinking about that convo for a couple days after, then I logged into Amazon to buy it or at least look it over. I discovered it was a movie, not a book. I ended up watching the movie and starting on my own journey. It was life changing for me.
So now, this random man in the market will never know he changed another's life just by speaking out about what he did in the grocer lane. But bless him for doing so. Absolutely recommend this to anyone who needs a serious wake up call and is ready for a real change in their life and body.
