This is the 3rd book of the Fatal series.. and they keep getting better... the relationship that Sam and Nick has keeps developing and they are getting closer and closer to getting married.. But the relationship Sam has with some of the other cops she works with are bring out more information about them as well. Especially Freddie and Gonzo..

You truely can not go wrong with any of Marie Forces books, but this series will always leave you wanting to read the next one right now... I can't wait for more. Hopefully Ms. Force will continue to write about Sam and Nick and their life together...

other books are:
1. Fatal Affair
2. Fatal Justice

Hoping for more to come!

Yet another great story about Detective Sam Holland and her fiance Senator Nick Cappuano. In this story, first one and then another cleaning lady at the Capitol is brutally murdered. Then Sam learns that both were pregnant and both were immigrants and that they were part of a group of call girls. Who is running the operation and why has she been warned off when one of her detectives is also attacked and lives to deliver the message?

Then there's that awful Peter, a man from her past whom she thought was going away for life but now has been released from prison. Who can she trust and how can she keep Nick safe, too?

PS Drink tons of caffeine if this one keeps up you late. OR start reading EARLY in the morning, the better to avoid yet another set of late-night reads because you can't put this one down.

OMG! I completely love this series. Had to throw that out there right from the beginning because this will probably be a totally biased review.

In this installment, Sam and Nick are attending the wedding of her father and his caregiver/girlfriend Celia in a somewhat cheesy Valentine's day affair. Smack dab in the middle of the reception, Sam receives a call from Arizona Senator Henry Lightfeather stammering on about someone being dead.

And we're off...

As with the previous 2 entries into this series, a lot happens and it happens fast. We have dead bodies, we have high level politicians involved the latest DC evil doings, Cruz having a hard time dealing with his vow breaking, Gonzo's status as an unattached, unencumbered man changing in the blink of an eye, Nick's mother dropping in, Sam's ex-husband causing trouble all while the Sam and the MPD team tries to solve the latest group of murders and she and Nick plan the wedding he's decided to have in six weeks.

There are gut-wrenching, heartbreaking moments (I can't tell you what they are because it will give important parts away), but these all show us the type of person that Sam is. She's growing. She's trying really hard to let go of those bad habits she developed with her ex-husband and you can see that in her interactions with not only Nick, but also with the members of her MPD team.

Nick, is just Nick. You have to love him. He's been through so much, but he still manages to remain grounded and give our girl Sam just what she needs (whether it's a good kick in the ass or wrapping her in his love).

Can't wait for Fatal Destiny (hope it's still slated for September) and then for Fatal Flaw.

Marie Force doesn't disappoint, especially with this superb series. Each book just gets better and better, and the chemistry between these two main charachters are like a moth to a flame. I suggest if you haven't read any, the time is to start now!..........While planning her wedding to United States Senator, Nick Cappuano, Lieutenant and homicide detective Samantha "Sam" Holland, couldn't believe that there was another crucial and political murder. What surprised her even more, was the cold hearted fact that another close friend to Nick's, was implicated in the crime and his name was Henry Lightfeather. The victim was not only the cleaning lady in the Capitol Building, but she was also having an affair with Lighfeather, and what made it even worse was that the young woman was pregnant. With Nick trying to plan their wedding, plus his campaigne trail, the last thing Sam needed in her life, was for his good friend to be accused of murder. Was Henry the father of the dead girl's baby? Or someone else? As Sam dives head first into the investigation, another murder occurs, involving another immigrant girl, where all the signs lead to the same killer, and she too, is pregnant. The only connection Sam has is that both women worked for the same housekeeping company. Did both women stumble upon something that they shouldn't have? They were both immigrants and they were both pregnant. What did it all mean? Did they get pregnant on purpose, just to stay in this country? She hadn't a clue, but one thing for sure, she didn't like where this was heading. With her detectives following all leads, someone very close to Sam is kidnapped, tortured, and violated, with a message for Sam by the perpetrator, that if she didn't back off, she would be next.Read more ›

About par for the course for a romantic mystery novel.

A gripe I had about the prior entry in this series is that the crime that drove the story didn’t happen until a good ways into the story. Force corrected that here by have it in the opening chapter.

The threat posed by Sam’s ex continues here – a story arc that has gone on too long. Wrap it up Marie.

These books remain a diversion from the heavier fare that I normally read, so the next books in the series are on my ‘To Read’ list.
