The premise behind this story is good and the world building is excellent, where the story loses it, is the two main characters.  Millicent and Ryker are just not likable.  Millicent is a homicidal, stuck up, snob with almost zero personality.  The only good trait she has was the love for her daughter.  The story could have been redeemed if we would have seen more interaction there.  But no, we got Trent who was the comic relief/babysitter and the baby barely made a peep as they ran for their lives.  As for Ryker, he was a crude overbearing jerk and his only redeeming qualities were he was attractive and protective.   But with Millicent being quick to kill was he really needed?

This story just could have been so much more.  It could have been heart pounding exciting but without an emotional connection to any of the characters, it just wasn’t there.  But it was entertaining I just never was at the edge of my seat.  I am not sure if I will continue with the series.  The world building is fascinating and intricate I just hope the next set of characters have more redeeming qualities.

An dystopian adventure about breaking away from the conglomerates that control everything. Literally everything. There are 3 main conglomerates that have taken over the world and decide what power to give to the government. The conglomerates control everything to breeding new workers and even having clones of top tier people made to replace their body parts. This story is about one of the conglomerates top security specialists, who creates weapons of mass destruction, realizes there is more to life than what she is told to do.

I found this story to be much more exciting than I originally thought. I thought it was just going to be a slight variation of the Hunger Games or some other book about overthrowing the government. Instead, I found a unique science fiction book that was inspiring and action packed. I cannot stress how great the action sequences were! It has guns, knives, and hand-to-hand combat. Along with the various weapons is a pretty steamy romance. I would like to scoff and say that I was above the flirting and other romance aspects but it was hot... too hot for me to resist being enticed by. I think the romance was a great addition to the book and added to the story. So if you're a guy who really is above all that romance stuff then this is a great book for you! If I had to summarize this book in a few words I would say that it was a steamy action story with fantastic action sequences.

It's a shame there are so many negative reviews for this book, which I found a terrific read. I can see the confusion regarding genre, as this book crosses lines between romance, sci-fi, and utopian-dystopian, which may turn off some readers.

Fate of Perfection starts strong, setting the scene by introducing the reader to Millicent (Ms Foster), a super-intelligent "asset" who designs weapons for her corporation. We get the impression she more emotionally vulnerable than her position and breeding standard. We see her struggle to maintain a dispassionate control over ever aspect of her life. We are then introduced to Mr Gunner (Ryker) who is irreverent, annoying, and lethal. His character was well-developed, but I didn't care for his personality, finding him irritating rather than sexy.

In addition to two good protagonists, secondary characters were interesting and the plot kept me glued to the book from first chapter to epilogue. I found this to be a wonderfully exciting read, and I am placing book two on my wish list.

After introducing and developing the characters in the first part of the book, the action is nonstop throughout the rest of the chapters.

As a general rule, I don't put much faith in reviews by people who didn't actually finish reading the book; but at the same time, there are some books that are so badly written that finishing them would be torture. This was one of them.

I can't speak for the plot, and I can't say all that much about characterizations - although certainly there wasn't anything immediately engaging about the heroine that made me want to keep reading. What I can say is that K. F. Breene can't write to save his/her neck. If you have any love of good writing, or at least any sensitivity to bad writing, avoid this book. Breene is simply incapable of describing a scene, a person, or anything else without tortured verbiage and strained, inappropriate similes.

My only regret is that I gave this piece of garbage even the small amount of time I did.

I didn’t know what to expect from “Fate of Perfection” because it seemed more Sci-Fi than paranormal. However, I did know what to expect from K F Breene, and that was an awesome story that was well written with lots of twists and turns. As a matter of fact, FOP was hang-by-your-fingertips action and adventure with loads of humor with a serving of romance on the side. I have to say, I felt pitched back and forth, thrown up and down, but definitely in a good way. It was easy to become fully engrossed in the story and take the ride of a lifetime along with the characters. That is a testament to the writing style of Ms. Breene…. it’s “Ah-ha! Gotcha! Now let me reel you in.” If you haven’t read her other series, you should. They’re just as awesome. Eagerly awaiting “Fate of Devotion.”

Fate of Perfection is essentially one long chase. Two people are attempting to escape a planet where the citizens are essentially slaves of the Conglomerates that have functionally replaced governments. And they are taking their toddler daughter with them.

On the chase the reader sees bits and pieces of what comes of ceding control to entities that care only about the bottom line. It's an interesting look, but the societal implications definitely take a back seat to the action. And the motivation that the main characters are doing this out of desire to be able to live with their child is a bit over simplistic for my tastes. Perhaps I'd feel differently if I had two X chromosomes.

My feeling is that this story would work better on screen than in book form. There is just enough character development to support a 90 minute film. The book does hang together pretty well, though. If rollicking action is what you look for you might like this.

I'm sure there are other stories coming in this series. I'm not sure I will invest the time to seek them out.

Sometimes I felt like the make character was too fake and unbelievable. A stereotypically male chauvinist type. But I started to like him a little better as the story want on. The author went a little bit more into developing his character which was helpful.
I liked the female character just fine, though she wasn't necessarily someone I would want to hang out with on a daily basis. But her character was also developed enough that it made me want to keep reading the story.
Finally, by the end of the book, I really liked the story and was dissappointed to find that the sequel isn't available yet.
Definitely worth the read.

The dialogue is horrible. It was so bad that I actually read the entire book. Seriously, I couldn't believe what I was reading and became fascinated by the absurdity of the back and forth teasing between the two main characters. I had to look up the author because I was sure it was a 14 year old boy. I'm not sure if Breene was trying to create a romance in sci fi genre or if it was meant to be funny, but it failed in both. As for the sci fi tech in the book, it was interesting but not very well communicated to the reader. I could get a vague idea of what the author was shooting for, but my imagination had to intentionally stretch to create a picture in my mind of what I was reading. I didn't care for the two main characters, but I thoroughly enjoyed the third character and found him entertaining and humorous. That gave me hope that readers haven't lost their minds with the multiple high star ratings on this book. I'm going to believe that raters love the author and are giving her, rather than the book, the stars; that they've read her other books and they are better, and that this book is just a fluke. But I'll leave that to you to explore.

The description of the book available on Amazon really convinced me to choose this as my Prime freebie. I liked the cover art and the story sounded compelling so I gave it a chance. I'm an avid reader and I'm currently STRUGGLING to make it through the first chapter. I'm a firm believer in constructive criticism, so I am only leaving such an honest review to encourage the author to maybe return to school or take some writing improvement courses.

The writing is poor. Setting the scene is necessary in any story--I just can't grasp those images with this book. There really is no other issue here other than poor writing and editing. I think that with some professional review and revisiting--this story could be successful. It's just not quite there yet.
