Even though this is not my normal genre of reading, I found that as I kept reading, I was having an extremely hard time putting it down. The plot is one that will grab you by the coattails and drag you along for the ride. It is intriguing and full of many surprises. It has many emotions, but most of all, love and compassion. The author has taken a touchy topic and turned it into a wonderful tale, spun through the webs of her imagination. Well done.
The characters are quirky and interesting, and give you a true reason to continue reading. Charm and her "sisters" will keep you in stitches, and Zachariah may break your heart, and somewhere along the way, Faris will have you wishing for many things you never thought you wanted. And Lucifer may even have you thinking he's not so bad after all.
Of course, this is the first part in the series, therefore, be prepared to find yourself left hanging, while we wait for the next instalment.
Those of us of a certain age remember Flip Wilson’s character Geraldine saying “The Devil made me do it” as justification for whatever mess she was in. When the AudioBlast newsletter featured “Father Made Me Do It” I was definitely interested.
“Father Made Me Do It” is the first book in a new series about Lucifer’s daughter, Charm. Note: Most of Lucifer’s children have very interesting names like “Charm” or “Lovely”. Charm is an unhappy demon. She wants to be human. In order to do so she must complete challenges (reminding me of the Herculean Labors) to complete her ascension to the human world. Charm will need help to accomplish her goal. She must enlist the aid of her friends from hell (they live in hell but they are rather good friends) and accept, grudgingly the help of an angel. Oh, the angel happens to be hot and they have a very strong mutual attraction.
The story was very well written. It is told from Charm’s point of view. One of the first things you learn about Charm is that she is not the stereotypical demon. She is not happy to be in hell, but as she states, “Eternity is slightly bearable when you have friends like mine.” Change the word eternity to life and you have a statement that all of us can relate to. Charm’s voice is strong and is never lost even when dealing with her domineering father. Lucifer as a father, literally the father from hell, is wickedly delightful as a character. The interactions between Charm and her father have a natural cadence. Each time they spoke or Charm related part of her life with him, you came to understand both of them better.
“Father Made Me Do It” was very original.Read more ›
Q- What did you love best about Father Made Me Do It?
A- Is it bad that I loved the idea of Charm's rebellion against her father??? Then add on top the whole Angel/ Demon/ paranormal realms info...
Q- What did you like best about this story?
A- EVERYTHING!! I was busy crafting, but found myself stopping throughout the narration to hear parts.
Q- Have you listened to any of Rebecca Roberts’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
A- I haven't listened to any of Rebbecca's previous performances, so I can't honestly compare.
Q- Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A- I laughed in a few places, but I didn't cry... that may differ if I was to read the book too.
Q- Any additional comments?
A- I'm not sure why I haven't read this book, but having listened to it... I feel I must & soon, just so I can get a feel for the characters more. I can't wait to read/listen to what comes next in this series.

A fun story about Hell and the tormented souls that dwell there. And about the Devil's daughter, Charm, who really wants to get the heck out of Hell. Enter an Angel who offers her a way. And so the fun begins.
I enjoyed this story but it was too short! (Note to Author: Write faster....lol)
A good story with so many possibilities to come!

This is a paranormal short read. The book ends with a cliffhanger, so I am anxious for the next book. I recommend this for young adults, due to the sexual content. Read morePublished 8 months ago by angela
