This thirty-year-old film is ok. It is gripping, and has lots of drama, but it is missing something modern dramas have, one can feel that it is ever-so-slightly off, and as a result, although we are drawn into the drama, it seems not as exciting as it could be. Members of a German gang kidnap the crew of a flight that arrives in Germany and demands the release of two men that the US government wants to try in the US. One of the crew is the daughter of a football coach who was in the army three decades ago, but only was involved in football in the army. The coach is very self-willed, unable to listen to others when he should listen except in rare cases when his wife begs him to listen, but while she begs him not to get involved in the rescue of their daughter he refuses to listen and joins with a man who tells him he is a professional rescuer. This causes enormous stress between husband and wife.
The gang leader kills one of the crew to show he is serious. The rescuer kidnaps the gang leader’s brother in the hope that this will persuade him to release the hostages. The CIA is involved and lies to the couple. The German police and government off the couple no help. A reporter is involved, but he is interested in a good story so that he can improve his job. The husband does things he would not do if his daughter was not kidnaped.

Of course, action movies require the reviewer to suspend disbelief. But, to suspend disbelief there has to be something plausible about the movie. Nothing was believable: not family connection, not damsel(s) in distress, nor the protagonist - not even the villains. Well, that's my two cents.

The risks of travel among those who desire revenge with no regard for innocent pawns is further complicated by foreign policy toward hostage exchange. The lesson is how objective, ruthless mercenaries carry out these policies.

Enjoyed this movie, but the release date is listed wrong. This movie was released in 1988, not 2013. There is another movie released in 2013 with the title "Father's Revenge. Different story line

I tried to watch the movie all the way through so I could give a decent review, but after about 40 minutes I just had to give in to common sense. I'll go ahead and give it two stars, reluctantly, since there's no foul language to speak of, no nudity, no graphic violence. And there are movies I dislike more.
It is boring, poor acting, poor script, poor directing.

This Taken look-a-like has the late Ron Silver in a supporting role and Brian Dennehy as the father. While he is no Liam Neeson, he portrays a father drawn into a situation where gruesome action is required. The movie suffers from production quality and editing scene to scene. But otherwise, its a good popcorn movie.

The plot exemplifies the risks that we face today around the globe, but the script itself gets a bit lost because it's not well connected. The film was shot on location in Germany and this does add to it, but the actual terrorism scenes are not very realistic. The U.S. does not negotiate with terrorists. Nonetheless, it's well worth the watch. Enjoy.

This guy Dennehy is a first rate B movie star. Look at the lines this guy utters - it makes me wonder if there's part of his personality logged in his characters. "You used me..." "Why me stay..." Lol, please don't watch this movie!!
