So a little background about what Fault Lines is all about-- Frankie and Cole fell in love during such a significant stage in their lives and finding the love of their lives during such an early age was both lucky and unfortunate. With so many opportunities that lay ahead of them and the sort of potential that Frankie held, decisions were made that broke them apart. A decision that would alter the directions their lives would take. A decision that would cause them ten years of a world of pain. I honestly felt the despair caused by the years of separation between them. It was like losing the very heart of who they were. Even amidst the achievements they both accomplished apart, the taste of success remained bland. It isn’t until Frankie is forced back into their small town of Crescent Ridge, Nevada that they both remember what their lives should be. I was absolutely taken with Frankie and Cole from the very start of this book and I craved every single moment they were together and detested the times they were apart. I felt like an addict, unable to get enough of them. I was quite frankly OBSESSED with them!
Fault Lines is written with a welcoming feel. It was made for readers to feel the power behind first loves and the feeling of respite from the redemption that comes along with second chances. I’ve read all of this author’s work and I’ve loved each of them in their own right but Fault Lines shook something inside of me. A magnitude 10.0 that made this one climb at the top of my favorites. There is no denying the intensity behind Cole and Frankie’s love for each other just as there is no doubt that this is best seller worthy. If you are looking for something that will give you the ultimate feels then I suggest that you give this book a try.
Cole and Frankie are wonderful. They are wonderful in the sense that you feel their emotions, you feel their pain, and you feel for them. Young love, dreams, goals are lost in a matter of a moment. While I may not agree with certain decisions I had to stop and think, this is what young love is all about. It's relatable because what we think and feel at 19 is not the same at 25 or 30. I loved how we saw the progression of it all. I love how secondary characters were important because they felt like people you'd actually have in your life. While reading this I felt I was there and the author's skill of being descriptive was spot on. You got the small time feels and you felt the moments that defined Cole and Frankie. I felt so much for her and as stubborn as Cole was I felt for him too. I was surprised by how many surprises the author had...when I expected something to happen it went a different way! This book has it all...the angst, your swooning, its emotional, forgiveness and most importantly second chances!
Initially, I picked this book up because my book buddy Nikki raved about it (she read an ARC) and I liked the cover... not to mention that blurb! Oh and the title. When I realized why it was named that- so perfect. I love when it becomes clear during reading what the author is referring to with their titles.
Anyway, I am pretty picky on my second chance books. There is nothing I hate more than the aggrieved party immediately forgiving everything and the "angst" of the moment being over immediately. That's just not reality- and it cuts what could be an interesting story short.
THANKFULLY, that is not the case here. Ms. Shea has written an engrossing story that is fast paced and easy to read. You want to know why these two characters lost their way, what would cause them to split and then hope to all else it is something they can overcome. You will be rooting quickly for Frankie (love the name!) and Cole to work things out. The characters are relatable and easy to like. I actually like Cole more than Frankie, but I enjoyed their story and was rooting for them to get their HEA.
This book was full of emotions and I definitely loved the story. I can't wait to go back and read more of Rebecca's work.
5 'this is home' STARS!
From the opening scene, I was enamoured with this story. Rebecca writes characters who make impressions early on. They leave footprints on my heart that never go away.
First loves usually end in heartbreak. Its that all consuming hurt that decides the person you will grow to be and boy did I LOVE FRANKIE! She was smart, courageous yet cautious. Her small home town and I felt the same pride at the woman she became. I admired her will to overcome and succeed her dreams without looking back.
When an emergency brings her back to Crescent Ridge, I had no idea of what she would learn when she arrived. The secrets from the past unraveled and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The angst made me want to throw my kindle, then rush back to it to find out what happened next.
My thoughts will be in Crescent Ridge for a long time.
