This is where momma comes in. After watching me toil over the stain, she recommended this iron cleaner. After the initial chuckle, I tried it, and wouldn't you know it, mom was right! I was in disbelief. The baked-on carbon stain came right out just by rubbing on it with a CLOTH towel. The best part about it was that it DID NOT DAMAGE THE CHROME FINISH! I was so impressed, I took it to my car which also had baked-on stains on the exhaust tip from when I ran over a plastic bag years before. BOOM! Stain gone! I was out of control at this point. I went digging into the shed to grab that crusty old BBQ grill, but alas, I ran out of iron cleaner. This tube only holds 1 ounce of cleaner, which is plenty for cleaning an iron, but if you've got bigger fish to fry, grab a couple extra tubes.
I can't express enough how happy I am that the ugly stain is gone from my new bike, I felt that I needed to tell the whole world about it. Thank you Amazon for carrying this hard-to-find product. Also, thanks mom, after all these years, I'm still learning from you. And dad, sorry I broke the buffer.
To use, heat your iron to its hottest setting, squirt a half inch onto an old, folded washcloth or towel, and iron it, moving the iron around. Be sure to rub the edges and tip of your iron on the cleaner. They get dirty, too.
For stubborn scorch spots, refold your cloth to a clean top, apply another squirt of cleaner, and repeat the ironing. When you refold the cloth, a clean side should be on the side touching the ironing board as well, so you don't transfer a grease spot to the ironing pad.
Lastly, take a clean cloth and iron it well to remove any trace of cleaner. Check the steam vents for any residual. Using a rough terry cloth is best for this step. Remember that the iron is hot (I know, it seems so common sense, but it's easy to forget this in the heat of the moment). Just as a precaution, I start the first item I then iron is started at a hem or inconspicuous place.
Would definitely recommend this product that rivals more expensive ones.
